My S2 coupe

Looks like you've got a lot of oil mist round the inlet manifold / throttle body area, could be a boost leak.

@newsh, Ive done a boost leak test with Andys kit and couldnt find anything but ill be checking everything when the rocker cover and inlet manifold come off for a clean and paint. the black crud on the IM is really hard and needs scrapping off. I know that there is a mist of oil lower down the engine part from rocker cover and i think part from either a breather pipe or an oil switch. Of course I also have the usual PAS leaks EVERYWERE!

Looking over some of the service history and ive seen that the previous owner has changed the oil every 3k over the last nearly 20k in 4 years and has always used 0w40 mobil 1. Is this still a good oil to use or am i worth changing to a more advanced oil like a 10w50?

i dont know I have been considering them but im still not sure, would mind seeing what a set of bbs lm's would look like but I dont know. Would also like a set of either cup 1's or reps.

That would be my other choice, but would be like andy g's car. Both good wheels just easier to source the bbs rims than s8's (if you go for rep's)

slight off topic, I notice that the door panel on the passenger side matches the dash perfectly, on LHD unfortunately it doesn't Is the door panel different or is the RHD dash a better fit?

My RHD avant dash does not line up with the door trim on the passenger side so I suspect its not a LHD vs RHD thing.

Just went to s2 now and its the same my driver door panel doesnt line up with the dash either.

@sjw185 thats my ramp at work, ive got a set of keys and the boss doesnt mind so is quite handy, shame he wont let me build my mk2 golf there got to do that at home on the drive!

Dash has probably droppped. If you loosen the two little bolts behind the covers in the door jamb you should be able to push the dash up and retighten the bolts with it in the right position

Just a quick update,

Fitted a new 710n recirc valve as old one failed earlier in the week.

Anyone know of a good paint silver paint that looks factory so that I can paint the IM and rocker cover, does it need to be high temp paint?
