I wouldn't say they are rubbish but for this application I would have thought the DS3000 be a better choice and the DS2500 have a tendacy to eat discs.
DS2500 are more of a trackday pad and to work properly, they need to transfer a layer of pad material to the disc, so will work better after a few heat cycles. Pad material is an important choice and depends on what you are going to use the car for. Best off to speak to a few pad manufacturers and motorsport places to see what they recommend for your application(s).
From my experience with the DS2500, they need heat to work at their best and the first proper run tends not to give too good performance, most likely as the brakes are cleaned and the pads deposit a decent layer of friction material to the disc surface. Of course, this is on a car used on a daily basis, not a race car.

I'm using XP20(http://www.ctbrakes.com/brake-compounds.asp#2) on my CQ for trackday use. Works Perfect, but can be a bit hard on discs if they are on the small side. With 330mm Cayenne discs I get heat cracks when really trashed for a weekend
