The car has been fully stripped/lightened (1440kgs with 1/2 a tank of fuel) and corner weighted, and isn't like most Audi's ie lots of understeer, it handles very well indeed

            Andy,

when i first put the 20vt in the car, i was stuck for a daily driver, and it was literaly thrown together.......... that ended up taking 6hrs a day for 3 months!!!

doing things propperly this time arround, and improving on it every week hopefuly, even when its running stage1 engine

You dont like making life easy for yourself anyway!

It is nicew for the car to be off the road and have time to get things just right, rather than just make it work.

                      i know

looking forward to getting the hard work out the way first.

will/might eventually make a tubular subframe to mount lower arms from as the chopped up STD subframe looks SHOCKING!!

just doing my "to do" and "to buy" lists as i type this

the finish line looks even better now.

and i have product knowledge of the 20vT, whereas in 2010 i knew sod all, and that knocked me back a LOT relying on S2forum for ideas

thanks for all the help lads by the way

Anti-rollbar is bolted up with the "trimmed" subframe, the rollbar runs through the sump lol
looks like no anti-roll bar for now, and get some spacers made to drop the rollbar down about 40mm unless i decide on something else

will be working on the car again on sunday,
think i might wire in the fuel pump and relay from the fusebox, bolt up as much suspension as i can untill i get the other bits from Acidburn next weekend.

gonna put a set of shells and rings in the motor before it goes back in too, just because i can lol

other than that, get the prop shortened, make exhaust manifold, and system, the were off hopefuly!

sunroof, windows and heater motor can all wait, need this on all 4 wheels ASAP to get it out (and the Quattro!)

p.s this "to do/buy" list is now off the A4 page

                      Sean.

A tubular subframe would be good, is it possible to either flip the arb so it sits backwards on the car underneath engine/box? or try a arb off a different car?

Could try with the dropped arb but going by experience even slightly lowered a4's do catch the subframes often so i'd guess the bar would be missing after a short drive

Direct feed would be better for the pump from what i've read rather than stock wiring.

If your going as far as shell's and rings (ask jp about rings, he was cheapest from what I remember from my build) then i'd go as far as putting some cheap rods in whilst you are in there and depending what your weldings like on small parts baffle the sump (I think I have pics of mine if need be) since I bet this car won't be in a straight line often.

I wonder if your 6 speed prop is shorter than a s2 avant 6 speed prop, if you can measure it I have one kicking around from my avant that I could check it against

Peter, i will possibly need another prop come to think of it, as im now 5sp and with an S2 rear diff (it is S2 isnt it?!) and the drive flanges are bound to be different!

Stick the prop on the list too mate please, will bring my A4 one along for a side by side look.

can do without getting stuck next week.........

DJH........ my only pic of today, sorry!

badly chopped subframe, curtosey of oxyfuel lol

you will find that your tdi 6 speed prop should bolt up fine to the s2 rear diff and that box and its shorter than a 5 speed so helps with your moving of the engine/box back

well, from what i have found so far............ my 2.5TDi rear end is SMALLER than S2 stuff, i.e CV to hub and driveshaft to CV sizes, **** knows what was going on there as the fronts ar the same as RS4 lol!
