The famous photo bucket, very temperamental at times..

Cars coming on well. The list of jobs had grown but Will is well on with battling through them.

Right the after Ish and the boys at quattrocoachwork got the body work where it needs to be it was in to the wings and after taking them back to bare metal we discovered quite abit of perished metal .

So we had a chat about the best course of action to repair the original wings or by a pair of wings from Audi tradition so we opted to buy the wings at 500 euros each and I had read that they are not a perfect fit but Ish advised they will be ok and he could make them fit ok .

And a week late they turned up

And as soon as they did I picked them up and took them down to Ish and the boys so they could get cracking .

And after a couple of days I popped down on the weekend to drop some bits and bobs off and to have a look at the car as Ish had to along gate every hole on the wings as none of them lined up with the original bolt holes so he could get it some where like .

And as I was down he put me to good use as his lackey as he wanted to drop the doors on and start to play around with the wings and the doors to het the gaps right .

And after a day playing around we decided these wings from Audi tradition are nothing like the original ones in turms of fitment so we started to measure the wings like for like and they were out buy 6mm in some places .

So I asked what could be done with my original wings and he said I can cut the corroded bits out your original ones and use the new ones to make good the original ones buy wielding the pieces on to your old wings so you retain your perfect panel gaps so I said do what ever needs doing .

So after a day of wielding Ish trial fitted the wings and all the gaps were perfect .

So after Ish was happy with it it was time for a quick skim and to get it in acid etch primer and high build primer .

And so he moved on to painting the inside of the boot and engine bay .

Engine bay all primed up and ready for paint .

          And now in paint

          [IMG]http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/af103/jsws3/2211DC6E-0E59-4738-8E61-C2A0CB05629E-1207-0000016C63C2FDA6.jpg[/IMG

And now the engine bay and boot is painted it was time to put a guide coat on the car .

Well that's all for now but progress is moving fast and ill update soon .

That's not good about the wings mate but at least Ish sorted it for you. How can they charge so much for something that fits so rubbish???

Very impressive work there. Can you tell me what is meant by a guide coat please?

Sure when you primer a large panel you need to guide coat it so when you flat the panel with a flat block you can see the low spots in the panel .

So when you comd to painit its flat and there is no ripples in the panel .

I'm sure ish will be along shortly to explain properly .

Awesome job on getting those wings sorted!

Dont forget to build up some serious thickness of underseal on the inside of the front wings, otherwise first stone you pick up with the front tyre you will have a ding from the inside on the flat part of the arch. (don't ask me how I know!)

Ish has covered the inside of the wings with stone chip and inner wings for maximum protection .

I would be seriously pissed if I'd spent 1k euros on a pair of panels that fitted like that. Have you spoken to Audi tradition about it?
Cracking work on it though none the less, the old beast is coming along really nicely

Good progress John, some unexpedted and additional work having to be done by the lads at QC. Have they taken photos of the new wings, to illustrate the poor fitting? You could send them off to Audi Tradition and ask them to explain why they are inconsistent with the existing body line? Anyway it's looking really well since the last time is seen it.
