That would be ideal but the temperatures involved in hot dip galvanising would distort the metal so isn't an option. Cold galvanising isn't worth it. Instead we have a different plan. Marine grade primer followed by a flexible water and bomb proof (literally!) product called Line-X. Unbelievable stuff which Brian has found through his searches for coatings for truck bed liners. Check it out on Google.

Whilst I'm at it, thanks to AK Motorsport for the SQ pattern suspension kit which shipped last week.

Do you use the windscreen and doors from the 2 door 80 B2

Yes, we use the inner structure from the whole front section including the B posts from the 80 coupe including the screen and doors.

By way of a more general update, Brian has managed to source me a full set of replica SQ suspension parts ;-) Now just waiting for a build slot.

Right, shell now fully welded up complete with half cage. Brian found quite a bit of tea bag metal in the boot floor which needed to be cut out and fixed. Off to dippers again now for a clean up after standing in bare metal for a year and then some paint 😀 We now have pretty much all the bits - engine from Iroz, KW suspension, refurbished LH S2 rack, S2 drive train all soda blasted and coated, replica SQ wishbones, all body panels, dash, seats, rear glass, Tonks wheels. Haven't worked out brakes yet though - need to find something suitable which will fit into the original 16" SQ wheels. Starting to feel quite excited again!

Shell now fully welded up and back from its second acid dipping to remove the surface rust that has accumulated over the last year.
