Thanks guys I am quite relieved in all fairness. I need to tidy the up the engine bay, but it's not that expensive.

As for head, I don't know yet. I am looking at another S4 which comes with some goodies so might even keep the car altogether, and sell mine.

If I am keeping the car, will rebuild the head, and clean the engine bay up. So happy I don't have to rebuild it

So, did compression test the proper way and results are very good, I am happy!

1st : 11 bar
2nd : 10.75 bar
3rd : 11 bar
4th : 11 bar
5th : 11.25 bar

Probably depends how well the rings are bedded in, the compression usually goes up during the running in period.

So, as long as compression is between 9-13 engine is completely fine?

I don't know why the "new" low limit so low. That is just a quote from the AAN manual. I presume that the manual's writers knew what they were talking/writing about.
