There was a bad knock coming from the front suspension. One of the top mounts were shot, and control arm bush was completely gone. So changed both top mounts and the arm bush. It's so much quieter now, will be ordering the rear suspension mount. Got a good deal on front top mount pro kit
Old vs. new control arm bush
While changing front mounts, looked at bumpstops and they are perfect, just need the dust covers.
Also, removed the aircon compressor which will go for a refurbishment before I'm filling it up with gas. My alternator is next up on the list for a refurb, need to order some bushes, otherwise noise is just unbearable.
I only get blue smoke when car is cold, once it gets up to temperature no smoke at all?
When engine is up to temperature, dad was following me, I was doing about 70, lifted the thottle for about 5-10 seconds, floored it, and no smoke, that makes me thing the seals are fine?
The small one will act like a boost leak but inconsistently, sometimes leaking sometimes not. May cause smoking too as pressure can go into crankcase. Big one can cause smoking too, too much vacuum on the crankcase at high RPM.
mm, hopefully this will sort my oil consumption out *fingers crossed*
How does it affect car's running when those valves are not working up to standard?

The small one will probably be leaking, it won't leak if you blow through it with your mouth but it will if you use an air line and try to get it to hold 1 Bar.
The big one should blow through really easy one way and be restricted the other way. The diaphragm can split (easy to blow though both ways) and they can also stick shut (difficult both ways). In any case wash everything out with brake cleaner, all the pipes and valves and poke or pull a coathanger wire through the pipes with a bit of rag wrapped to the end. Replace any rubber bits that have gone soft.
If in doubt replace both valves.
Well, big one needs to be replaced definitely, as I can blow through both ways. Might as well change the smaller one too, for piece of mind, and it's not expensive either.
Just had a look at PCV system, and checked the hoses for blockage and checked the valves, the one-way valve that works when engine isn't boosting works fine, but how do I know if the other one is ok?

Just a thought, are you sure the PCV pipes are clear and no holes and the 2 valves are working? If you havent done it yet I would take the pipes off and wash them out and replace the 2 valves.
Just read through the write up Dave did, and I did notice quite a lot of oil in the Michelin man hose, so possibly PCV system is clogged. Will check it as soon as I get a free minute.
