I will check again when I go out. What it should be? But it warms up very nicely.

The MFTS can give you a low reading on the dash if it hasn't got it's rubber boot on and/or the rad ducting has been removed.

If the fuel gauge is reading low too or going up and down at the same time as the temp then have a look at the voltage regulator on the back of the clocks. Remove the screw and unplug it, clean the legs and the body where the screw goes through so you have a good connection and re-fit.
Fuel gauge is fine, it just doesn't show correctly at certain spots, but it doesn't go down like temp gauge. I will check the voltage regulator anyways, won't hurt.

EDIT: Just checked, and it showed 6 degrees C, and it was climbing with ignition on, without starting the engine? Is that normal?

    I also got these codes:

    11.7 Central Flap, sporadic block
    13.7 Footwell/Defroster Flap, sporadic block
15.1 Air Flow Flap Motor Potentiometer, static open

What is meant by sporadic block ?? And the 15.1, what am I looking at there?

Just did the diagnostic part, car was cold it showed 23 degrees, started the car, climbed to 50 pretty quick, then went for a drive, and went upto 75 ish. So MFTS is fine, and gauge climbed up accordingly, was a bit off but nothing major.

And it will be at 90ish degrees most of the time, but then occasionally it drops to 70.

Dave,is there a way to check if MFTS is broken w/o diagnostic?
I readed http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/22584.phtml but only says if u log on diagnostic and check on Channel 51.?I sopose that is the only way?(exept buying a new one)

"One "interesting" (read: Pain-in-the-arsh) fact is the C4 UrS-car water temp gauge is driven by the multifunction temperature switch (MFTS). Sometimes the MFTS fails so you really don't know if the low temp is related to the MFTS or a stuck-open Thermostat. The way to confirm one or the other is to access the Climate Control Diagnostics and check what the Channel 51 reading is with the heater on. If the gauge reads low and Ch.51 says 89 deg C or so, the MFTS has failed. However, if the gauge reads low and Ch. 51 reads low, e.g. 50 deg C, and you have been driving (or idling) for long enough to warm-up the engine, then the thermostat has failed open and you need to replace it."

Also, having running issues. in 5th and 6th gear car won't go past 4k revs, and when I tried to push it past that it would smell in cabin. In 4th it'll push past that to about 6. Knowing that exhaust isn't great, opened both cats but they were not blocked, also opened middle silencer and took all the asbestos out, smell was gone but still won't go past 4k. It will boost to 1.8bar in 5th and 2bar in 6th gear, so it's not boost/turbo related. I ordered a new fuel filter, but is there anything else i could check?

Would be the best thing to start with. A good idea anyway IMO if it's never had one!

So, as I have decided not to sell my tank I have question. Driving back to Leeds I noticed that temperature dropped to 70 degrees after sitting at around 90? What could be the issue? Thermostat?

Smoking was/is worn valve stem seals, and I did open both cats, took a half out from each and welded back up.

Swapped a boot lid trim from plastic clip one to metal clip one, and it's so much quieter now.

It comes with sun blind, but I am very sure I won't be using that.
