what did you use to paint aluminium parts?

Cheers, all. Easily the most work I've done on the car and I've done a lot...

Etch prime then just paint. The colour is a steel grey, which is just a little darker than silver and looks nicer

First turn of the key! 6 weeks of weekends and the odd evening; all new engine, clutch brake system and hours of cleaning and painting and she started first time. Super pleased One more evening to get the front of the car on and the clutch and brake pedals adjusted and then it's running in time...

What oil are you running in on?

Cheers, it was a bit nerve wracking and with the new tappets, it was tapping away until it got up to temperature. I reached the point where I just wanted it running and to make sure that the brakes and clutch were working, so I got it back together quickly, at the expense of a bit of cleaning and finishing off of wire routing. I'll sort all that on Thursday before taking it to my Dad's on the weekend, if all is well.

Got some Millers running in oil as recommended by JP. It's very cost effective at <£25 delivered from Demon Tweeks Will be going for Millers Naonodrive W50 eventually, perhaps with W40 for the winter.

Also been recommended to put some magnets on the oil filter, so have ordered those.

Only thing I've got to properly finish off is the sump drain from my swirl pot, as it's annoyingly in the exact same place as the header tank feed to the rad...
