The dash pot is there to prevent the throttle from slamming shut when you take your foot of the gas. It allows for a bit of time for the other mechanical and electrical engine systems Including the ECU) to adjust to the new (throttle closed) conditions.
Thanks Dave, I'll get it back on

I'm very happy how it turned out too

So it's just to preserve throttle body, it has nothing to do with "performance "?

While some were having fun up in Scotland, I was hard at work finishing her off

Majority of the gaskets have been changed so I expect no oil leaks, had no reason to rebuild the head. Rebuilt started motor, and changed bearings in AC compressor and alternator so it's much quieter now. Of course new lower crank pulley with bolt (managed 200Nm+180degrees after breaking 2 bars and tool held up superbly ) and all timing belt things

Few bits I'd like to change in near future is N75 Valve (seems to be original) and viscous bearing as it is little noisy.

Couple of questions, first is the dumper (?) on the throttle body, what is it there for, because I can't see any difference between it being there or not being there.

Driving around town temperature is sitting at around 100 degrees, any suggestions of why that would be happening (new 87C thermostat fitted with new expansion tank)

Next job on the list is alignment after some minor front suspension work. Winter plans include foot well and air went lights as well as some general interior clean up.

I feel like front should be slightly lower, I think she would look more aggressive. Been thinking of getting 18" 9 spokes for summer use, and have winter tyres on 17's and it would look much nicer on 18" if lowered. Thinking if something like 15-20mm at the front and 10-15mm at the rear?

I already have 20mm spacers all round, need to see if I can fit 25mm at the front to fill arch gap

And 20mm at the front on my old one (same tyres)

Not after a set just yet, but I will need 1BE springs though.

Then at least I will be 100% sure what ride height I'm getting and still will have original springs if I don't like it
