So, after fixing the headlights of almost all of my friends it was finaly time to fix mine. A short trip to the breaker got me a set of broken lights for next nothing but the important part (the reflectors) was intact. So I scavenged the reflectors from the donor lights and sent them for rechroming. The whole exercise with getting donor lights was because the place that does the rechroming is a huge factory and they have 1 week lead time. When the refinished reflectors came back it was time to get to work. farove 1.jpg

Carefully washed both lens on both projectors for low beam and fog light. Usually the fog light never goes bad, its reflector is metal and all it needs is some "spit and polish" farove 3.jpgfarove 2.jpg
Now it was time to put some bulbs, as the regulations here are pretty loose whe are allowed to use HID in Halogen socket light also the projetors on those lights maintain sharp focus, clean cutoff and do not produce glare even with HID bulbs so I went for the following recepie
Low beam HID 4300K metal base bulb with fast bight AC ballasts 35W
High Beam some no name LEDs with CSP diodes and active cooling
Fog light HID 3000K with standard AC ballasts - nothing beats yellow light in fog farove 4.jpg
And we went on a short trip to the snowy mountians to thest the lights, and as it is S2 forum here is a video of an S2 driving infront me
Very awesome build! But, am I the only one who has half of the pictures missing? I can only see certain pictures, while most of the other ones are gone. Good luck on the build!
Got myself a brand new dome light from Audi Tradition because the old one had a broken switch. DSC_0324.JPGDSC_0333.JPG
I needed 3 days the gather courage to take the sun roof motor cover out to change it, most of you know how notorious the metal clips on those are for breaking. DSC_0335.JPG
One of the clips had failed already at one point and someone fixed it with epoxy DSC_0326.JPG
So I did some preventive epoxying on the other one DSC_0327.JPG
However the new light looks out of place on the old cover so the cover will be sent for respray, there is a guy here that does this and even restores the original letters and symbols DSC_0325.JPG
Another one of the mini projects got completed. I got hold of Audi Comcert II CD from A6 C5, those are rare as they are a bit different than the ones used in A3/TT/A4. It had some wear on the buttons so I've sent the face plate to be refurbished. The top one is refurbished, the bottom one is original image_80948.jpg
The catch is that Power on ignition and Illumination on this head unit are controlled via can bus and the car does not have it. There are can bus simulators but due to lack of demand they are no longer produced and I managed to get the last one they had in stock. The seller keeps the listings active but the price was changed from €67 to €367 and they said they will keep it that way until the item is available - strange practice s-l500.jpg
