Ik used BKR7E up to my 515hp tune on ron98 fuel. After that at 590hp and 700hp on E85 i started to use the BKR8E

There is a good thread somewhere, which looked at various plug options. I concluded BKR7EIX was the best standard replacement and for running a moderately modified car (eg chipped). Will try and find it when I'm back at the laptop.

0.6mm is the gap you want

That sounds a pretty narrow gap to me? Maybe 'cause I'm used to thousands of an inch!!

                  Everyone out there running 0.6mm?

I'm running 0.7 on FSI coils. I know people who run 0.8 on FSI coils. No issues whatsoever.

Although I'm still stock for the moment this is what I run - NGK BCPR7ET, 0.7 gap, tri-electrode. It's NGK's alternative to Bosch FR5-DTC, even though Bosch's have 0.8 gap.

                      • Bkr7eix upto 400-450hp bkr8eix 450-650hp bkr9eix 600+

Gaps on high boost engines 1.8bar+ adviseable to run gaps lof 25thou/0.6mm (yes i know 25thou is a teensie weensie bit bigger) however with the **** uk pump fuel bigger gaps like the factory 0.7mm settings can start to missfire under high load.

Ngk plugs like bkr7e 8e etc.... nice cheap plugs but can break up/melt from heat and shock of turbo use.

As for any dual and tri groundstrap plugs you're asking for pre ignition issues on pump fuel. If it hasn't happened yet then consider yourself v. fortunate.

                        • That's interesting. I've been running these plugs for half a year, and have encountered no issues with pre-ignition. The plug heat index is the same as Bosch's F5DP0R. I must be very lucky on our 98 octane.
