        So in summary....

The hole at the back is the tightest, the hole at the front is the loosest and will feel the most normal - and ALWAYS use plenty of lubrication

        Cheers n

Do you think I could afford a wife and mod the car at the same time? That's why I'm getting my priorities sorted in the right order.. would never work the other way round.

Cheers tho, I'll be going for the tightest hole on this occasion :mischeif:

Well. Update, Bry you should have spoke up earlier. Mr RS2 FARB will be here from VAG parts early next week. The Whiteline will be here the week after. Bummer.

Well.. a quick report. I don't think I used enough lubrication coz it's stuck

Basically, I'm having a hard time getting the nut off the droplink arms. It's *almost* there; I used tonnes of penetrating oil but I guess it wasn't enough... So I have a super-floppy RARB now, rattles like ****, and I ran outta light - gave it another soaking with pentrating oil and will 'ave another go tomorrow! I'm determined to get the tightest hole.

Hopefully i haven't knackered the rear droplink but i fear I have; what a ******* this job turned out to be!! I didn't even get to looking at the FARB, looks like it might be easier to remove the front wheels to change the droplinks?

                Nope! lol

I had to go round my mate to use his air tools to get them nuts off on the front ARB, PIA they are!
Was the same for the rear at the garage meet.

Once i replaced them with new nuts it was fine.

You could heat the nut up till the plastic bubbles then get it off, have new nuts at the hand though!

FARB drop links are a ****! The top nut was fine to undo as it faces you so can use a ratchet, the bottom i had to use 2 spanners, started undoing ok, fine i thought, til it got to toward the end, then **** me was it hard to undo!!! 2 long spanners and a lot of force from me to undo it and it took ages to do too!

I would suggest that when changing the fronts, if they are for the bin, loosen the nut as best you can then use a saw to cut thru to get it off. I would def have used an airsaw had i been at the workshop!

I took my ARB off when i did the drop links, it's easier than faffing around with 2 spanners, as it's only 4 bolts on the subframe.

                        Well ****.

My back is hurting like hell... and my shoulders are gonna be feeling it too. But I got those nuts off... I royally fubar'd the rear drop links (well, one was knackered anyway). Where can I get rear drop links from in a hurry (like, tomorrow) guys? Coz I'm now riding around without a RARB, till I get some new one's.

I think I'm gonna drop into a garage and slip 'em a few bob to ramp it, pull the wheels off and get those nuts off for me. Coz I can't be arsed with that one on the limited space of my driveway!!

                        Cheers

I fitted my RS2 FARB last night and adjusted the my 18mm RARB to the stiffest setting.
It took me about 15 minutes. I wish all jobs were as easy as that.
The car is much more go-kart like now, and was very easy to slide about in the conditions. The rear end was much more lively.

OK I don't wanna hear about it Stu. I'm aching like a ran a marathon after muscling those drop-links off. One really didn't wanna give, so I ended up cutting the boot and popping it out. Went for a quick spin and can really see why cars come with ARBs now, it feels shocking

Good news is, euro carparts will have me 2 new rear droplinks tomorrow to fit, so wish me luck. Think I'm gonna drop by the garage and have them airgun the *******s off (and then the new ones on off course). Is it OK to fit the ARBs off the ground, and then tighten them to the subframe once it's back on the ground? Figure that'd be the best way to ensure it's set up correctly.

                              Cheers

I really struggled to get my drop links off on the front when I changed then a short while ago ( the passengers side just kept popping off - totally s*****). I found using a ratchet on the nut side and pushing the boot back and using a pair of mole grips on them and wedging the grips into the wishbone so I can just manipulate the nut. WOrked for me but I was putting new ones on. Just took a bit of hard work and knuckle crunching.
