Ok, I read up here about the MAF connector. I cleaned it up with proper contact cleaner (I think I used WD40 before). Took her for a spin and........... ... wow she really goes. No boost cut, smooth as a turbine all the way to the top
Ah that old chestnut, you maybe read that it took me ages to finally cure mine. If it seems to be coming back again then pop the pins out of the connector shell and clean them properly or replace them.
A few years ago, Alex (error404) was able to supply gold contacts to put into the MAF connectors. No idea if they are still available but I'm sure I've read somewhere in a Bentley service manual that there is a procedure during fault finding on the engine that; the factory specify replacing with gold plated terminals.
Put some in and avoid corrosion problems in the future!
(or find an aftermarket connect with gold pins already in and solder that into your loom maybe)
I finally got around to changing the gearbox part. I got a good second hand one from a very kind forum member.
The old part was completely f##ked! I couldn’t even get the spanner in it. Had to remove with mole grips. Looks like chemical erosion?
My temporary repair was holding well though.
All fitted and good now.
