Looking great Mike, mine was looking worse for wear but short blast to put her to bed and tuck her in for the next wee while, but the roads are just a nightmare if you want to have a wee run out, and before long is covered in salty dusty muddy 'orrible stuff...

Still looking a million dollars, Mike.
One of the previous owners did a thread about an intense polish/paint treatment several years back (can't remember who
), but I'm sure that helped with shine that she still has

Rear badges have been off from quite soon after I got it as they had been painted. Still not found a source for a new s2 rear badge (not paying £50
). Rings are easy to get but one without the other wouldn't look right. Quite like the plain rear anyway

Fuel pump change
Today i finally received my new fuel pump so i thought i'd post up a quick how to with a few photos. There's plenty info already on the forum about changing this. It is a fiddly job but only requires basic tools so definitely a diy job. My pump lasted over 206k miles which i thought was good but it turns out its been on its way out for a while...more later
1. Lift carpet and sound deadening in boot, remove 3 screws holding metal cover, clean the area as best you can of any loose dirt, then unscrew/clip the wiring and pipes seen here. Then undo the black plastic locking (i used a hammer on a hammer with one handle striking the tabs on the locking).

2. With his done you can lift the top part out the tank. Then unscrew/clip the wiring/fuel lines attached to underside. Don't worry about dropping anything in the tank as they can't go far and are all within easy reach.
3. You can now see the pump located in its basket. You can remove the whole basket but don't if you are just swapping like for like pumps. To remove the pump i found it easiest to pull on the black pipe and push one tab at a time until it can be pulled out clear of the tabs. It takes a bit of fiddling to figure it out.
4. with the pump removed this is what you are left with
5. Swap this fuel line and the 2 wires onto the new pump
Then its just a case of refitting. When you are putting the new pump in, it will only sit in one position in the basket. I was pushing down for a while wondering why it wouldn't push down past the tabs. A little tweak to the right and it nestled nicely in place and the tabs locked it down.
I did consider upgrading my fuel pump to a Bosch 044, but this requires a bit of modifying to work and also removal of the basket. I have read the basket can be a nightmare to refit as some will testify to, so i avoided this.
Hope this helps someone else in future
