With reference to post #346 showing your new fuel pressure regulator:
Your new FPR has a very much smaller outlet diameter than the OE Audi unit. After having fuel over-pressure issues on a recent build of mine (an LS3 engined Cobra replica) I would ask you to test your fuel pressure at your fuel rail. Unless your fuel pump has an in-built relief valve I'm concerned your fuel pressure could be too high, as the new FPR can't physically flow enough fuel back to the tank. Safer to check now...

Been busy in the garage. The car had a bad surface on the paint due to all mechanic and blankets on/off during the garage time. Also a lot of "wash scratches". I invested in a oscillating polish machine and some different polish etc.. Polished the car with a 3 step polish program. The result was great in my opinion. Sure, if the surface was to be perfectly flat it needs to be "water sanded?" first for top result. I dont dare or have the knowhow to do that. But i'm happy.
Spent about 16 hours masking/polishing/waxing and cleaning. Well hopefully i can enjoy the result for some time now if i'm careful with the paint. Now it almost feels like the car has changed colour, now when the metallic is more present.

Todays mission was wheel allignement, all good and in to spec, besides the right rear, there we had problems getting the camber into spec. Spec was about -0.50, we only managed to do - 1.00. All other measures was good. Well, i guess with old bushings and stuff it was good, but sure a little nagging to not be 100%. I will do a refurbish of the underside of th car at some point. And then i will hopefully get all in to spec.
Now the car runs better than any time before, more shiny than ever, just need to put the new wheels on and enjoy the summer! I have a lots of small "problems" to fix, and i will post them while i sort them out. Here is some pictures of the freshly polished/alligned RS2. I hope you don't get bored with all my pictures!

Yeah that was good, maybe a combinaton of bad things. But as my injectors were clogged when I tried to start the car for the first time after assemble of the engine. I thought it was good to replace it also. As far as I know, that wont matter. Im afraid they damage the new wheels, also with original rims there is more space to work specially up front where its tight.

Weather was nice today, and i got some time. First proper test drive for 2021. Suspension feels really good, and steering is more reactive. No suprise as my old dampers was all bad. Once compressed they stayed in.. So thats a big difference. Engine is running much better since i changed FPR and temp sensor. Also the spark plugs. At the end of the summer i had some hesitations when i got up to 4 gear, full throttle/boost and the car smoked black at those occasions. That problem is now gone + the idle is spot on, better than any time before.
Filled the tank up with some fresh 98oct and back to the garage waiting fo friday and the wheel alignment. Then it's time to do a proper polish of the car and change to my new wheels.

Hello! Today i torqued the last rear bolts of the suspension when the car was on the ground as the manual said. Changed the FPR and temp sensor for ECU. After the change the car started with a huge missfire... Thought it was some air in the fuel system, but it didnt get better. So i shut it off, then it didn't start at all! Changed back to the old stuff. No start.. Off with the fuel supply line, the pump was running. Measured fuel pressure (about 4bar), tested injector supply "diod test", all good. Checked the spark on cyl nr1, no spark at all. Changed to better used original spark plug, now i had spark... Changed to better used spark plugs F5DP0R and then it fired right up. I was also thinking of doing a leak test of the intake system today, but this fault finding took the time today. I both love and hate this old lady from time to time Well now it runs silky smooth on idle, thats something good after all, lets see how it likes some boost if the weather allows some day soon.

Old vs new FPR, some difference.

Waiting on the spring to arrive. A While ago i bought some tie end adjusters from forum member Greg_S. This weekend i finally got them installed. There was some struggle to get the old parts off. But nothing a little heat couldn't take care off The car is now ready for an wheel alignment after the suspension change. The car has also started to run a little rich, need to pressure test the system. Bought a fuel pressure regulator and a temp sensor from Audi tradition, thought they needed a change after all these years. Will get back after some fault finding.
