  • I was searching for options to replace my door trim (lower and upper) to S2/ Competition specs.
Turns out that lower ones are extremely difficult to find. I can get all the upper ones new and used.
For the lower ones the ones on the front wings are nowhere to be found...

I saw some pics of B4's with all these trims removed. That would also be an option to
prevent not being able to source these parts in the future. Just shave them off and
matt black wrap the lower part of the door to replicate the stock look.
What's the general consensus on that?

    • They were not removed, B4s before 1994 came without lower trims. I've also seen them being repaired by replacing rotten metal "rail" with new custom made.

      • Ahhhh did some searching and it seems that the early B4's with the black doorhandles didn't have the lower trims. Learning every day.
Mine is 1993 and does have them. Is there any information why Audi added them?
Just design or also for some benefit?

This STW replica has no trim. Not bad look imho.

        • Color coded door handles (as well as side mirrors and middle door trims) are just a build option, not related to model year. I'm not sure about official reason, but there are way less dirt in the door sills with trims present. And maybe something to do with less wind noise.

          • Good point about wind noise and dirt!
So does anybody have the lower trim parts for the front fenders!?!?
            The thin S2/ Competition ones.

Here in the Netherlands all early B4's and even B5's had the black doorhandles.
PON (distributor) has a big say in what config VAG cars are offered here.
Or maybe all Dutch people are cheap and buy base models hahahaha

            • You can try your luck to find and modify B3 90 trims (door trims are the same, end parts are different length) or 3D printing is growing fast these days
I'm in the same boat as you - most of trims are still ok but some are rotting away, will need to take some action.

              • Are the Competition trims different to the S2 ones? I recently got a set of four s2 ones from Audi Tradition -

I can confirm they werent cheap, but better than the set i had before which had rusted in behind the rubber making some lovely bubbles

                • The S2 and Competition trims are the same thing.
Audi Tradition currently doesn't list the small end trims. The door trims are available.

                  • Scored the trims behind the rear doors on eBay Klein Anzeigen.
One brand new, one slightly used.

Happy I found these. The ones the front wings might be more difficult to get....

                        • Ordered a set of lower door trims from Autowo. So only the small front fender trims remain.
Maybe I'll find these one day.

                          A quick question:
I am gathering all the bushes to do a full suspension and subframe rebuild.
Audi lists 2 types for the front and 2 types for the rear subframe. PU bushes
are specified as all the same for the 8 points...
Do I go normal rubber or PU like from Verkline?

                          • In my experience, I try to opt for OEM rubber bushes where available for comfort reasons.

                            • I was thinking the same, but nice quality parts aren't much available at the moment.
What brands of rubbers do people on here use? I would choose brands like TRW, Lemforder or Meyle.

                              • Lemforder is the OEM so that's the best aftermarket brand one to go for. When you buy them you will notice that the rubber has the audi rings partially obliterated which confirms this. That's certainly true for the subframe and wishbones bushes.
