How come a lot of the US models of sportier cars always had something 5h1t about them? Like the E36 M3 not even having an S series engine? Or an S6 with G60,s? They arent even any good on an. S2, let alone the tank that a C4 chassis is?

Agree HP2's are very good, a version of it was Audi fitment to D2 S8 just a bigger rotor 323mm as apposed to S6 314mm, they do a very good job hauling down the 1750 kg's of the estate.

Cheers. I always fancied a Urs6 after meeting you and seeing yours at Audi International a few years back. As has been said already, a fantastic piece of machinery and well undervalued atm.

              What shocks are recommended?
Bilstien seem to have gone really expensive.

Are there any Boge or Sachs options? Those would be my first choices.

Though I have to confess I'm using two on the front of my Avant that simply say 'made in Germany' on them, they came with the car along with all new bump stops and gaiters etc. They look to be OE quality and the guy I purchased the car off said they were expensive, just hope their okay.

Cheers Kit. I think Sachs do them. I will investigate

Front struts got blasted. Wheel bearings came out with a bang.

After a final clean, two coats of my favourite primer.

I’m going to have to sort this oil cooler.

My VAG mechanic friend lent me this as the ABY tool doesn’t fit AAN.

He said he uses it mainly on the 5 pot Audi diesel fitted in boats! Apparently quite a few about.

Nice little project there Dave. Should keep you out of trouble

I noticed the Nothelle S2 in your sig. Very nice! My brother nearly bought a Nothelle Corrado VR6 years ago. He should have done!

Nice bearing extractor, I really should invest in one of those. I get old outer races out by cleaning them, then running a heavy ring of weld around the inside with a MIG, that causes them to contract and they simply fall out. It's fairly quick but does mean dealing with very hot things, best done outside.

Do you know what's the purpose of those lugs/plates on the underside of the spring plate? My V6 models don't have them, but look the same otherwise.

Nice trick with the welder. I must try that.
not sure about the lugs. I guess some kind of counter weight damping maybe

Yeah, those lugs baffle me as it's more unsprung weight, I really can't see what purpose they serve but they must be there for a reason.

The welder trick works a treat even with a really stubborn outer race, Jim showed me how to do it and I couldn't believe how easily they drop out, just be ready for a red hot ring of metal rolling around, best done on the floor.
