Apart from spending lots of money on their cars for the past 30 odd years, nothing to do with Audi unfortunately. I could see myself as one of their salesmen back in the day though. When their cars were worth buying.
I've been making the most of the nice weather. About 400 miles done now. I will be dropping the mineral oil soon.
MPG has improved slightly and now about 28.
If you remember from a few posts back I had an issue with my rear speakers not working. My efforts to swap some new old stock Blaupunkt speakers into the original housings didn't end well. They are plastic moulded in one and cutting them open resulted in a hole. This wasn't up to Tractor Dave standards and had to go.
Fortunately a friend is currently breaking a late 80 saloon and the rear speakers are both working and in good condition.
Swapped them over in no time at all.
The old speakers had rotted out around the cones.
Now this meant I had some spare tinsel wire. I was totally unaware (until enlightened by Newsh) that speakers and fuel senders use this special wire which is designed to flex continually without breaking. So I was able to fix my old sender.
Don't forget I'm running her in. I think i can slowly build revs up a bit now on the next fill and then at about 500 miles, drop the oil for the good stuff and start testing boost
Took her for a drive today and now have put about 300 miles on her since filling up. I've been driving around with a gallon can in the boot just in case I had mis calculated him much was left. Anyway, I guessed it's about low enough to sort the sender in the tank.
Newsh kindly sold me his spare.
It's not a big job.
With the new sender plugged in I have a working gauge again.
The flexi wire on the old one had broken. I will fix this and have a spare for the future.
Cheers guys. I'm not act unwell atm. Just a bit sore and cant do much for a few weeks whilst things settle. I haven't actually been unwell since before Christmas. It just took NHS Wales a long time to diagnose what was wrong with me then and maybe that illness did something to the ticker. I will never know. I did feel a bit of a fraud going into hospital for three days before they could fit a pacemaker because I felt absolutely fine. The week before I cut down three big ash trees, chopped them all up and split them into logs!
