Great work Hamish, you're really putting in some time to get the chassis sorted. Wish i had the time at the moment.

Been pushing on with the work lately, looking good to get it back together for March.

Gearbox cleaned up and painted. Had to do a bit of cutting to the bellhousing to get the downpipe in:

Finished off the gearlinkage and got it in with the slave cylinder:

Rear anti roll bar cleaned up and painted.

Floor welded back up and some paint splashed about. Bar Fitted up with rose jointed links.

Then I had a delivery from Pro alloy. A new radiator to replace the current one. Far better made and a lot thicker. I also had the header tank extended by 2.5" to increase its capacity as I had issues with it having so much thermal expansion it would over flow.

I have also bought a new alternator to run under the car and drive off the propshaft. I had issues last year with it flipping belts and chewing them up when it hits the limiter so hard. I also wanted to get some more weight off the front end like the works cars. To do this I have had to make a new diff arm on one side which meant flipping the mount over. This gets it up high enough for the alternator to hang under. Not finished yet as I am waiting on some pulleys turning up so it can be lined up:

Finally this weekend I have been fitting power steering. I bought a new electric pump from a saxo and decided it would go behind the drivers seat to keep the weight low down and as far back as possible. I am also running a cooler for it on the return line so there are no issues with it boiling the fluid. Struggled to find a good place for it to go so it ended up going under the fuel cooler.

Mount welded up from some steel tube to hold it. Pump will be secured with a couple of jubilee clamps:

I have used forged 90 degree fittings and banjo ends for the rack using high pressure PTFE lines so it should be nice and strong for the high pressure! Lines run down the tunnel with all the others and through the steering boot into the rack behind. I need to tidy up the boot I know!

I also got another cooler and fittings to pipe up the gearbox I need to decide on a location for this:

So thats where its up to. I have to finish off the alternator set up and plumb in the gearbox cooler. Then a big assemble of the drivetrain including new shafts which I have worked out lengths and spacers for with the help of James! It will then be able to go back on its wheels! Finally I have to do some work in the boot to tidy up the plates which were welded in and fit the new cooling parts. All looking good for ultimate dubs then a test day a couple of weekends after.

What saxo model does it came from? Does it provide enough pressure for the Audi parts?

any ..also pug 106,they also have the facilty to alter the pressure and resistance...they are quite a heavy unit tho

hamish can you post up your rolling road results,i am keen to see how the power delivery is

As has been said they were fitted to all saxo's and 106's. They are quite a heavy unit but I wanted to stay away from the pure electric set ups like on the new corsa's as they struggle with feel.

We didn't manage to get any print outs from the last dyno due to not having the operator there. Hoping to get back on the dyno soon to get some print outs.

Its something I might look at in the future it was a very time consuming piece to make and i started with a lot of it from the 016 linkage.

It only works like that because I welded the hole for the rod further up the trans tunnel in the same place as the works cars. James gave me the measurements from his car. Something to consider for yours to make life a lot easier?

Yes, I will be copying the works setup as well and moving the floor shifter hole as well.
I am also going to try to replicate the works rear transmission mount (bolts to the transmission tunnel) to freeup room for exhaust.

Definatly a good idea with the gearbox mount. Its something I regret not sorting on mine. The other option is to come over the top of the shaft and cut some off the bulkhead.

I like the works solution, but also noticed that Prospeed car has something a bit different. I don't have a good picture of it, but will be asking Lubo for more details next time I talk to him.
