The engine is out and in pieces, the head will soon be on it's way down to JP's for a rebuild, port and polish.
The bottom end is all out, and i have most of the parts and upgrades ready to have it rebuilt after balancing.
The longer time goes on, the more i seem to spend on random bits and pieces for it though... 034 billeted throttle cam, adjustable cam pulley, 034 injector adapters, zeitronix etc etc etc.
I'm not sure which will happen first - the car will start, or i'll run out of money.
Well that's easy... you'll run out of money, scrape over a period of weeks to get the remaining neccesary bits of work done to get the car complete, and then it will start.
Great car. On the first few pages, its said torque bends rods. Which is incorrect.Overly High cylinder pressures bend rods. I come from an evo and its generaly found that a bigger turbo will push more air at a lower boost level than a smaller one,and youll have a lower peak cylinder pressure as the air will enter the engine cooler.
Having ran several turbos on my evo1, I have found you are probably best to go as big as drivability will allow. Its possible to lob a gt30 on an evo with no other mods(exept fuelling) run 1.6-1.8 bar and have about 450bhp.
One car I know was running 1 bar on a gt30 and everyone slated him saying it was a waste of a turbo blah blah. It made 400bhp at 1 bar and spooled at 3500 on a 2L. Fact is it will stay reliable, which is more than i can say for running a stock turbo at 2bar.
