After a delayed start the work is now well underway.
The car is already back on stock springs, and there have been a few "surprises" already.
The 034 top mounts i put on the car about 4-5k miles ago are completely destroyed, as are the front brake pads from the RS6 callipers at the front, only about half worn... this goes some-way to explain why the car hasn't felt very nice for the last few months
I've also added a few more things to do whilst the car is in pieces, the list currently stands at:
Head rebuild (with light porting)
Wagner exhaust manifold
RS2 turbo
RS2 injectors
RS2 exhaust cam
AN oil lines
ECU remap (+3bar MAP sensor)
Southbend clutch
Blast and polish inlet manifold and cam cover
Catch tank system
Sump
Cam cover
Catch tank
AN lines
Washer jets
Rear washer jet pump
Springs and struts
Front top mounts
Front brake pads
Bottom end rebuild
shells
rods
piston rings (?)
So... quite a bit to do.
In terms of rods, i've seen a couple of names thrown around on the forum, SPM, Arrow, Pauter etc.
What do people recommend for this application?S2Forum.com AdministratorComment

You have the same problem with the 034 mounts as well? I bought some from Quattro Corner hopefully do on very soon!
In terms of Rods, Pauter are the very good quality but have a 4-5 week lead time, for a budget Aron rods are good
Really depends what your budget is but for RS2 spec, Aron's should do the job nicely.Comment

After seeing the quality of 034 stuff I wouldn't use any of it on my car unless I really had to, some stuff is good but the majority leaves a lot to be desired.
Andy - you'd want to do piston rings as well, jp is good for these, thats where mine came from and a lot cheaper than audi.
I have the rear washer pump for you when I see you next. Your about an hour from me now so if you need a hand anytime give me a shout as I go past yours quite often up to herts.Comment

Jamo - Yeah i've replaced the 034 with OEM. The "uprated" topmounts i've tried have failed spectacularly.
Are Arrow rods any good? I'm getting a price on those now. Where would i get Aron rods from?
I'll spend up to ~£500 on rods, not sure what that gets me these days.
Pete - That's a good point, i'll have to ask JP about those. I might be over his way when Ross drops off his head this week.
If you can get the pump to Ross then he can drop it at mine.
The car is actually up north having the work done at the place i usually get it done. I was thinking MRC are pretty darn close to me now though, as is JP. I was actually at MRC last night just dropping something off.S2Forum.com AdministratorComment

Aronmatic on the forum sells the rods. Have a look in the for sale section.
I think there are around 300 euro for a setComment

think you mean the block we removed the other day.
Speak to aronmatic2 on here, you get rods plus the grease and bolts and they are around the £300 mark last time I checked.Comment

Hopefully not, the rings should wear in. Whether or not i need to re-bore or hone the block anyway due to wear.... hopefully not!
I don't want to get into re-bored cylinders as i can see it getting even more expensive then.
I picked up the clutch from Ross last night, thanks for that, and have a set of rods en-route from Aron.
I'll be getting jp to re-balance the bottom end, so will be hoping to get other parts like the piston rings from him if needed.
The other question for me now, what with doing the bottom end with rods, and ultimately going for a completely unleashed RS2 map, is will the rs2 injectors be enough?
I'm hoping this beast will produce as close to 400bhp and as much torque as possible

RS2 injectors wont take you to 400bhp - but you'll be close... reckon 370-380 and heaps of torque in the mid range circa 550Nm. I'll send you a PM about dates etcPaul Nugent
