Also after looking at Ross's graph his afr drops to 11.5 under boost (unless I've misread!), so I figure it can't be that uncommon.S2Forum.com Administrator

You need to borrow an air compressor and bring it down, or alternately I'll have to try and bring one up if I can find one. As has been said, stick to some 14.7 AFR cruising! Try and keep it >11, so pretty much off boost by the sound of it, at least you have gauges!AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

Well, the AFR number you are seeing is a ratio.
So 9:1 is a whole lot richer than you think.
11.5 is perfectly fine, dipping below 11 is not, 9 is crazy rich and not good for the engine at all.
So yes, driving it around is perfectly fine, just don't beat it around until the boost issue has been fixed

I only see <11 when i use near-enough WOT, even at ~1 bar it's ~11.0 AFR, and i haven't been driving around with WOT.. infact first time was tonight and 9.6 is the lowest i've seen on this 1 occasion.
Now that she's run-in i'll happily leave her on the driveway until i know i can get this sorted, especially if im going to cause damage driving itS2Forum.com Administrator

Actually even a hand pump would do the trick...
One guy pumping like crazy and other one spraying soapy water.

I have tied a foot pump too but found that if you do have a leak there is no way you can build that much pressure, especially if the turbo seals leak a bit too..
The only way i got it to work was with a compressor. You could use a spare tyre if you have or make a female > female hose. Make sure you top it up first with a portable compressor to 50psi or so so that it has enough air in there to fill the pipes.91 S2 coupé - RIP

Does not sound like Sonic has a very big leak though, so that's why I think it might work, if you are pumping like a mofo

I have a 12V charger, although it's not as quick as a foot pump and furious pumper it doesn't ever let up, and may be enough. Either that or I borrow one as offered. Will speak to you about that offline...AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994
