Making the car ready for MOT

So i've been making the car ready for MOT, muffler/cat and headlights without tint are fitted. Also been driving without ABS for the last year because it hade some problem. Last week i got in to fault finding and found out that one ABS-gear on the left driveshaft was gone.. So i had to order a new cv-joint, i ordered two just because.. So after almost 2 weeks of waiting they finally arrived yesterday. I got both cv-joints changed today. Also found out that one of my driveshafts (left front) was bendt.. I ordered a used one from the scrap yard, will change it later on. Now i can hopfully get through MOT, i will try this week.

Starting to dissasembel the driveshafts, notice the bent shape:

Will be back about the MOT later this week. Always a little nerv wrecking..

Last time i went to MOT the guy told me to put a cover over the turbo/em for next MOT. So today i made a cover from a piece of aluminium. Just for MOT inspection. Will get back tomorrow with the results...

Nice cover, but isn't it a little bit obvious, that something is hidden under it? IMO, it would look more stealth in black color.

I now that it's obvious but since he told me to do it i did. Maybe it feels better to let the car through the MOT if it's not a big turbo that pops up first thing when you open the hood. But as always, he must be a nice guy to let it through.

That MOT guy has juas the right attitude. My MOT guy was like looking in the engine bay and ignored the big turbo because his eye caught the changed intercooler.

Hehe! Yeah it's all about the guy who's making the inspection. If he is in bad mood he will not let it through. A MOT guy once told me, "Your car is tuned right? But as long it's not faster than my 500hp Evo I let it pass"

Didn't pass MOT

The car didn't pass MOT due to wrong Lambda value (0,94), high HC and high CO. Will look at the Maxxecu file to see if something is wrong with the Lambda regulation. Because some times it has hard to keep Lambda 1.0 at idle, even if that's the Lambda target. Other than that he let it through

Ask the OEM, as far as I know they have solution for acceptable emissions

Adjusted lambda

So i found by looking at som log files that it runs rich on idle. Found out that the lambda regulation was limited to adjust -15% on idle, so i adjusted it further down until i reached the lambda target (1.000). Got a little bit ruff idle but i think it will slip through MOT now. Will see if i can get it to the MOT tomorrow..

Pass Mot

So today i passed MOT inspection

Before adjusting lamda correction:

According to their measure instrument it runs a bit lean but this is only during low load.
So now i just have to take away my turboshield, cat and muffler. Then it is ready for the summer.
