  • My engine

My engine bay also gets full of dust. This was at a carshow so it was cleaner than it usually is.

      • Was that a coupe on the right side near your car? By the way your engine bay really deserves the nomination (thumbsup)

            • Not done so much

Hi! Not much has been done to the car the last months. But now i will start with some small projects. I want oil pressure and oil temp in the Maxxecu so that is what i'm going to install now. Also a temp sensor before the IC to se the how much it cools the air down.

I will also mount a second oil cooler to get the oil temperature down a bit, the analog gauge was almost up to 130c some times when going hard on the throttle. So i want to get it a little bit cooler.

Some wires, connectors and sensors i bought. I will use the EGT sensor type before the IC to measure the temp.

The new oil cooler from Setrab. It feels and looks way better then the oil cooler i use now from Mesa cool.. It will be fitted where stock IC is fitted.
I will run it in series with the old oil cooler. I don't see any reasons to delete it since its already mounted. This will get some more cold air than the other one and hopfully help me to get the temperature down.

              Waiting to get out..

              • Some progress

Made som progress in the garage the last few days.
Got the temperature sensor mounted in the oil drain plug. Hopfully this will make accurate numbers. Read on the net that people were running like this to see oil temp. Not sure were else to take measure on the I5?

Then i mounted the new oil cooler in series with my old oil cooler. Braided ss ptfe hose. Hopfully it will help me get the oil temp down. It's a little bit hidden behind the BOV but i think it will get some nice cold air.

Also i want oil pressure to be measured by the maxxecu. I took out the oil pressure switch (oil light sensor on dash) from that place i mounted a hose and pulled to my adapter. On the adapter i mounted both sensors, in this way the original warning light on the dash will also work as will the oil pressure for maxxecu.

                Here's the adapter with hose

Tried to hide it behind the AC bracket.

Will start with the wiring to the sensors soon.

                • normaly the oil temp sensor sits in the oilpump where the plug from the overpressure valve sits

Yes i know, but when people install after market oil temperature sensors on the I5, where do they usually put them? I dont want to mess with the original one on the oilpump.

                    • Fired up again

Last weekend i started up the car for the first time this year. Now i have oilpressure, oil temp and air temp before IC in the maxx ecu. I will have two weeks of vacation now, then it's time to take the car out on the street again

Nice work! You might try this to make the oil cooler more efficient. Helps with brake cooling as well if you do both sides.
