Some small progress with the bottom end. Pistons and rods assembled and fitted in the block. Checked the rod bearing clearance with plastigauge, all was in good spec.







Installed also the VAG 60-2 rear crank trigger. Need to send my VEMS for a small VR->Hall modification. This trigger should be bulletproof.

Trigger works great yes but be careful tightening the 2 bolts for the sump as mine cracked a little and is weeping a little oil now

Yes, need to be careful.

AAN sump was so dirty ugly, so I tried to ultrasonic wash it. Had also a 7A cam cover that I washed. They turned out quite nice.

It was a quite big old FinnSonic washer.

The courrier delivered me some tyres today. Would these be good for some driveshaft snapping?

Had some hours today in the garage. Bottom end assembled and waiting for the head. Sump got the PKK baffle plate.






Deside to use a AAN valve cover, ultrasonic cleaned it also first with a bounch of other parts. Valvecover got an orrange color, first I was thinking of pink, but orrange is maybe little bit more dangerous color...

Painting the cover always looks nice initially. I found that whatever type paint you use, eventually it breaks and peels and looks awful, unless you don't use the car! Haha
