Will take it a long run today to get a few miles on it. 50 miles now...

If its going to blow up I don't want to be too far from home lol. But yea If everything is measured when it's built and it's done to the right tolerance there isn't much to run in.
Last engine I built had a HARD 250 miles one night then the oil changed at the track the next day and 90 minutes spent on the track. That's how I do it...

To me, it just makes sense to do it this way.
Break it in the way you're going to use it.
By giving the rings a chance to seat at full rpm while they're fresh, they've gone thru the full duty cycle and are set for regular use/abuse.
Granted, I have yet to do so myself (although such is my intent when the time comes). Reading Motoman's method was quite convincing. And by the looks of it, he spends more time racing than building websites lol

Must say that i have to agree with such methods - as harsh as they sound... IF you build it right and tolerance are all checked etc then the last thing you want to do is baby a new motor for 1000 miles and then wonder why the bores are all glazed up and it doesn't rev as sweetly as you would like !!!Paul Nugent

Have a word with Kit Simmonds, he's found a place in Germany that has the SRE clutch in stock for the 3B flywheel, he's ordered on this week, good price too
