    • Remove the trim covering carpet edges, it will reveal two screws holding the b pillar trim. Then pull down the trim.

        • Ok. I’ve discovered that the headline replacement is a real PITA!

25 year old clips not keen on moving!

Homemade upvc tool (as suggested here)

Unfortunately, the last section took some foam with it.

I had some thin neoprene which I used to fill the gap. Then cloth repair material to give a smooth surface.

Everything else seems to have come off intact.

          • Good progress today.
            My engine arrived.

            Clutch in.

            Gearbox mated

And in it goes after 7 years apart!

            Subframe readied

            And up

Lots to do now to get all the pipes and wires fitted. Not sure where to start so I recon it’s dinner time!

                • You Deffo did the engine install the easy way with no subframe in place. I had a right. Job recently steering engine over subframe and onto gearbox.

I'd maybe get the exhaust connected up first while there is space round it but i'm sure it will all come together really well with everything prepped, cleaned and ready to go in.

I made a couple of mistakes. I forgot to remove the procon 10 cable guide at the back of the gearbox and this was a PITA to sort after! I didn't place the bolts in the top of the gearbox mounts before it went in. There isn't room after and as Glyn had gone home with the crane, I had to push the bolts up and put the nut on the top (with extra thread lock). Not ideal but doesn't seem to be a big deal. Everything else went pretty smoothly - thanks to advice from members here, especially Error404 who also supplied the clutch. You can't buy standard ABY clutches anymore and I have a bad knee so didn't want a sports one.

                        • Well done getting the engine in. Those rbackets are to stop damage to the cats if the suspension bottoms out I believe

                          • Good one Dave. Well chuffed for you fella. Although your doing things very fast, your making everyone else look bad. I guess you have the bug now or you know the winter will be with us soon so things will slow down a notch or two.

These are to prevent the car from hitting it's floor on a curb or something like that

                              • Those rails were originally on cars with V6 and turbo engines where original exhaust with two catalysts was low to the ground.
