What seals have you gone with and is there a good thread already for replacing the seals?
Corteco which are OE.
Not sure about a thread. I haven't found one. You need new flange bolts and I believe they are 10nm plus 90. They are stretch and shouldn't be 're used. The rest is fairly simple but I did forget to measure the gap to 're seat the seal as per the old one. Did this on my Avant but it was nearly four years ago now

I need to do the input shaft seal on my diff, so I need to find VW 391 tool. Having taken a quick Google there doesn't appear to be many around for sale.
I didn't measure
It was about 5mm inside the edge. There is a stop further in. So it doesn't go to the stop?
Hopefully, there is a mark left where the old seal sat. Have you got the Bentley measurement?

I found no need for this tool, with a wiggle the input flange just came off.
