Whilst waiting for the pump, there is plenty to do.
The wheels got a clean. I'm not keen on black. They will be going back to silver when I get around to it.
I picked up 16 good used Porsche wheel nuts on eBay for £10! Bargain. Now I can replace any ropey ones I have.
Wheels went on the car.
And I cracked on doing all the torque up that requires the car to be on the ground.
Big boys toys required for the hub bolt. 200nm plus 90 degrees.
And these.
No pics of me crawling under the car to do the wishbones.
Now both rear wheels are pointing in visibility and the eccentric bolts are as far as they will go. Something isn't right. I need to check a few things. I'm wondering if the aftermarket rear tie rods are the correct length. Head scratching.
I ordered the Pierburg this morning. Coming from Germany so might take a week or so. Good luck with your arm Kit. Hopefully they will sort it out for you.
£150 for the Pierburg isn't too bad, certainly better than £550+ which is absurd.
I recently started my RS2 for the first time in two years after I realised it hadn't been fired up for so long, stuck a few gallons of V-Power in the tank and it started straight away, ran perfectly, then died after 30 seconds.
I had a suspicion the pump had sucked up some water as it had been left just about empty with generic 97 Ron fuel so checked the fuse which had blown, fitted a new 15 amp fuse and it fired up again, was a bit grumpy sounding for about 30 seconds then cleared and ran perfectly, fuel pump is silent. Let it run for half an hour and gave it some revs right to the red line a few times and it's happy again now and starts straight away. The oil is spotlessly clean Fuchs Titan 10W50 so that wasn't a concern.
Though I've just purchased some of this stuff..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375466045615 After spending hours working out what's best of these products to treat the fuel in all my cars that are currently stood as I can't drive due the pain meds I'm on. Well I can legally, I have a full clean licence, but don't currently need to and would hate to have an accident because some pills. Cost's me £250 a year to keep the RS2 insured and saves my no claims from lapsing.
After badgering the NHS for three years I'm finally having surgery on my elbow later this year so I can drive properly again.
It's dead.
Dated 94, its the original pump. It's done well.
Now I do have a nice new Bosch pump. Just happened to be knocking about.
But I don't really want to chop up the basket to get it in.
I see Audi Tradition have the original pump for (sit down) 545 Euro.
However, the same Pierburg pump without the Audi part number is still available for about £150.

So today I set up the pressure bleeder and cracked on.
The brakes all bled easily and there were no leaks.
The clutch was a different matter.
Nothing was coming out at all!
So I disconnected the hard line connection and tried from there. Still nothing.
So I upped the pressure as much as I dared. In the end I went up to 20psi.
Pumped the clutch and slowly a dribble.
Then a big gush as whatever the blockage was flushed out.
After that it was fairly simple to bleed the slave.
Next I put a couple of gallons of super unleaded in the tank.
Disconnected the fuel supply line and placed a bottle over the end.
My plan then was to use the power probe to run the pump and flush the fuel lines with clean petrol.
However, these things often don't go to plan. Just a click from the pump. So I thought maybe the power probe wasn't giving sufficient amps. Tried a hot wire direct to the battery.
Still just a click. The pump appears to be dead. Sad face.
Anyone have a good RS2 pump?
Rear handbrake set up and working nicely.
Front arb fitted.
Can't fit the rear calipers yet as I ordered the wrong pitch bolts. Surprised to find that they are still available from TPS for £4 each. Hopefully will get them tomorrow.
A very kind forum member in Germany (Rik) found me a pair of custom made stainless guide tubes. The quality is fantastic.
I think the purpose of these tubes is to keep the cable away from the driveshaft.
I wasted no time in getting them fitted. It's a fiddly job with limited space. I used two screwdrivers to open out the shoes. Plenty of ceramic grease on the little bushes keeps them in place whilst you wiggle the assembly together.
Everything is new. Springs, adjuster, cable lever and back plates. I've used a little ceramic grease on the moving parts.
It was a pain to fit mind. I've always disliked drum brakes. Ever since my Mrs had a Mk2 Astra gte with rear drum brakes. Those nasty little springs are a pain to fit and always get you. I have the scars to prove it!
