Dave, thank you, that's a very kind offer but at the rate you acquire projects you'll need them before I get around to getting the struts off my car !

Seriously though, I'm not in a hurry so have time to look into it.

    Many thanks.

Alternatively, Classic Quattro (Simon) sells a set of bumps and boots that fit ok ish.
Cheers, I'll hunt around. CQ's could be a last resort .

Were they easy to get, I ordered a kit from autodoc and only the gaiters were in the box so still need to get some.

Are you fitting new bump stops or are the ones on the struts ok?

Next job on the list is the front driveshafts.
    They got a clean.

    Marked and disassembled

    Given a wire brush

    Masked off and some zinc.

I've had a nasty cold for the last few days and have done very little.
Today I cleaned up these (thanks Sal)and made up some rubber bits using some foam sheet.

Then I went to fit the exhaust but found that the sealing ring I ordered was the incorrect size.
The one I had enabled me to fit one side. Plenty of copper grease on the new ring helps these seat nicely.

That's a bit of a Ssd, getting paint to match a 30 year old metallic silver car is going to be difficult, sounds like a full respray apart from the roof if it's dent free may be the required.

Avant tailgates and bottom of B/4 wings are always the places rust first rears it head, though I expect you know this by now.

Its not bad. A few rusty bits bottom of front wings and couple of scabs around the windscreen.. A nasty dent in the drivers door and the odd small dent here and there.

Fair play Dave that's starting to look really tidy now.

It's going to be a lovely car underneath, what the top side paint work like?

    Here it is.

And now I can refit the heat shields.

    Next job is the exhaust.
    Cats got a scrub.

And I made some spring loaded mounts with some stainless tube and parts I had knocking about. The originals were missing.
