Over the weekend I had the chance to do a little more work........
Saturday I did some detail work in the engine bay with the wiring. Looking at pictures that I have taken over the last 6 years I carefully placed clips and ties around the engine bay. It's interesting how you can initially look at a wire and not have a clue how it is supposed to run. So you leave it be for a while, and then out of nowhere you realize exactly how it sits. I also added the fan harness, which required a rewrap of all that lovely sticky black cloth tape.
Anyway, below is a picture of the bay as it sits now.

I got bored with wiring so I figured I would try my hand at getting the insulation back in place. I had carefully removed the insulation previous to sending the car to the painter, but I really didn't make a guide to where things went so I went back to the pictures. I was able to find three pictures that were enough to get me most of the way down the road. A couple of pieces are still homeless.

Mounted the ABS controller and the battery tray, which was one of a few small discarded parts still in an avant shell I found in a very nice lady's back yard in Chichester.

Sunday morning my mate Eric drove down from Chattanooga to help me place the inner door/window frames in the door shells. We dug out the frames from my dusty old shed and took the garden hose to them. Nothing too fancy here, just a lot of water while rubbing them down with my hands. With the cobwebs, dust, and spider guano washed off we dropped them into place. Not really too worried about the seals matching up perfectly yet because once the car is completed the alignment task will be taken care of by the nice fellows at the paint shop.
It's starting to look like a car again.

I swung by the paint shop on the way home from work today hoping for some more blue parts to take home. Not yet. Hopefully they'll have something form me by the end of the week.

Look back at the previous pics and you'll see the sedan frame and how they slope towards the rear. Definitely wouldn't work in this app. They were the cleanest of all the frames I had in the workshop so I grabbed them first. Anyone of you would make the same mistake. Ok, ok, the fact that my mate and I had had a few beers might have had something to do with it also. I went back to my pile of doors and dug out the proper pair of rear avant frames/glass and hit them with the garden hose to rinse off the dust and spider scheiße. I unbolted the sedan frames and popped in the avant pieces....easy stuff. After the frames I hung the right side door cards just to see how they would look.
