S2 3bs w/ AC were provisioned like the 7a in the CQ and 90Q20vs in the states -
AC compressor next to the oil filter and alternator under the hydraulic pump.
I guess the S2 3b motor that I imported from AllAudi was a non-AC model since it did not have the drain in the oil pan extension.

You guys win the internet (especially Tom).
I looked up sfest to see if it is within driving distance. It's less than an hour away from here. Seeing the "RS2A" there next year would be incredible.
Been busy working on the gearbox. This box has been in my garage for 5 years now and had never been properly cleaned except for a spray can of that terrible engine cleaner stuff from the local auto part store. I removed some of the grease, but left most. I also couldn't get under it to clean so I just tossed it back in the garage until about two weeks ago. This is how it looked to start.
When I first saw the serial number I thought I has some sort of weird gearbox due to it having a 4 digit serial number. Keep reading.......
I spent about two days scrubbing it down with a toothbrush mostly and Marine Clean. I also used a brass bristled brush on a few tough spots. Yes, this was very boring and tedious work, but I persevered. Once sanitized it was left to dry. I then masked off the detents, shift selector rod, etc and started spraying. Having the box mounted on the engine stand allowed me to rotate as needed which kept my hands off of it and get underneath.
I few close up shots. My five digit serial number. Now visible.
The intermediate section. Note the upside down "L" in the casting which provides the extra space for the wide 1st gear.
Bell housing, under the left mounting bracket.

My work isn't finished here. I'll replace the seals and swap out the left and right output flanges for some that look nicer.
Looks fantastic Tom. I was surprized that Kate does not have a transmission number listing for the CRB. She does for the CBD in the UrS4s, for example.

I'm following this thread since I discovered this site and every new post makes me think to completely dismantle my RS2 and start cleaning, sandblasting, painting...

How long would it take for me to drive up from Orlando!
It's a pretty good haul Ross. You are welcome any time and can put you up for the night in the apt above the garage. Of course you'll be subjected to a security screening before you can leave.
