Interestingly, the 7a (at least the one I have) uses the same position as the RS2.

      • Spent the morning cleaning the motor and mounting a few things.

Scrubbed a little bit on the cylinder head. Front of the head shown here for example.

Mounted the RS2 water pump, which is ADU specific, BTW.

Close up picture of the RS2 only cam gear showing the part number...........make sure you've got a "B" stamped on the inner wheel.

            • Mercy........between you and Forgie I can't do anything. Good catch though.

Work in progess here. When the motor is finished it will be there. Left the cam gear loose because there are still details to wrap up.....like the pipe.

Maybe I'll just wait to post an update after the motor build is finished.

              • Tom: Will you mind if I use some of these ADU photos in the various write-ups I have done, e.g. the G40 Cam Sensor? Credit to source (you) will be given, naturally.

I think we (the two Daves) are just trying to help, not catch you out. Please don't stop posting for "fear" we will catch a "mistake". (I wasn't worried about the coolant pipe because you don't even have the timing belt on yet).

Yeah, I know. It's funny though and I don't mind at all. It's partially my own doing since I'm not explaining what the my plan is.

You are correct, it's not a worry until the timing belt is on. Which is going to happen after I finish cleaning and painting.

Exactly! I've got a box full of parts and some time to kill.......why not.

Not Tom but I believe the answer is "because the window on the RS2 G40 Cam Sensor shutter wheel is 10 degrees different than the AAN or ABY shutter wheel because the RS2 exhaust cam is installed rotated 10 deg relative to the AAN or ABY exhaust cam and therefore the "B" cam gear is the correct one for the RS2 exhaust cam for proper installation"

                              Or something like that.
