Well done Andy for sticking with this project.....74 pages long and going strong!

All that's happened to you would have tested my patience for sure When are you coming back to your spiritual home in the good ole Lakes, so I can see the beast in the flesh?

When you've a mo, it would be good to to see the final bhp/torque curves for that set up.

Oh, one question.....why did you go for Zeitronix in the end rather than Motec or VEMS?

    Cheers

      Cheers John

I'll be back up at the end of August, but not in the S2... it's quite a long and costly drive to do the round trip with the S2!

I'm getting married in Windermere in September though, still not sure whether to take the reliable, comfortable, cost-effective, safe-bet of the BMW, or just to hell with it, and take the beast up :mischeif:

My OH seriously disliked the S2 before the mods, im not even sure that she'll sit in the car now lol, and woe betide if i was to give it WOT > 4k in any gear, let alone do a launch

Still, i think it would look good with ribbons

I haven't had the car on a dyno yet, so no official figures or graphs, but i'll be sure to post them up when i do.

As for the Zeitronix - i was after something standalone and simple to give me egt, afr/lambda and manifold pressure. The Zeitronix kit does this very effectively and was extremely easy to have installed.

Really good Andy, hope you enjoy it!

let me know if you want some figures from the VDR just to give you a hint of what its making.
              you have my email.

              edit:
by the way, mac valves are dead easy to tune and have no issues whatsoever. All top of the line electronic boost controllers use them as well. So tuning with one shouldnt be an issue. Obviously its what every tuner has most experience in that is the case, NOT hardware all the time!

my 5p on the tuning session

                Hi Vasilis,

Good to see you back on the forum!

We also found that the MAC valve doesn't work as well as the standard N75 with Motronic tuning. Not sure why. It looks nicer, but didn't work so well. The car struggled to make target boost vs. duty cycle.

                Cheers,

                  Hi Vas

Yes the car is as good as i wanted it to be, and then some

I haven't had the car on the dyno and don't have any stats for it, i should get rpm into the zeitronix really, that would allow me to do some cool logging.

The issue with the mac valve is apparently to do with the duty cycle. I don't quite understand it, but im told even at 100% it wasn't right, which a few people independently confirmed - so not just Dmitri.

Great to see this car finally back together, running and churning out some awesome stats Look forward to a Dyno shoot-out, it's good motivation for me to find a bit of time and sort mine out!

We need logs.... Dmitri? I have to see how this stacks up to my car now. I'll try not to be tempted into an upgrade

Looking forward to seeing this in the flesh, and will be intrigued to see how it fares on the dyno. The midrange at 2.3bar has to be savage... I've seen a couple of overboosts (kinked ECU hose) and I thought it was going to snap my head off just before it cut at 2.3!

I can't quite believe Andy was updating this thread before even letting me know how the mapping went... now I demand a drive.

Yes it feels great to finally have it working so well and on the road

Dmitri - can you post any logs or graphs up?

Yeah a dyno run will be very interesting to get figures... need to get something sorted on a comparative dyno.

I'm also getting the other sensors hooked up to zeitronix (rpm, tps) so that i can get some proper logs.

                      <4krpm = 1.6 bar, > 4krpm = 2.2 bar, 2.0 bar at redline.

I had the car at the Milton Keynes meet last night and took Greg out for a quick spin. I had kinked the ECU hose after shoving it back up behind the dash, and it cut-out at full boost

Easily fixed, and i hope that Greg was suitably impressed

2.2 bar from 4200 rpm and 1.9 bar at 7000 is what I had ,but with theory 570/580 hp

Maybe is because my cylinder head is better, with bigger valves and and high lift camshafts ?

                        What's now your rev limit,?

Now you have to feeling like a child with a new toy eh?

Why this k26/27 can push far more than the others? Bigger hotside?

Bigger turbos make the same power with less boost, thus 1.9 bar does no
equal X HP, it is turbo dependent.

Thansk for taking me for a run the other evening, probably the worst thing I could have done in terms of future mods, but good motivator to get a few other bits sorted on mine. Was immense on acceleration and very linear. Would like to know more about the turbo setup on there too as very tempted to look more towards an updrade in next 18 months if money allows.
