  • Interior

    As already stated, I wanted the car to be just how I wanted it, so the interior also had to be updated and finished off properly. I managed to collect a whole interior from various sources;

    I was browsing E-bay one evening when this came up for sale;

    One Recaro Classic Comfort.

    So I decided to go the whole hog and bought it thinking the matching seat was bound to come along at some point soon. Little did I know it would take ages. Peter (Acidburn) had the matching seat but forgot I had asked for it and passed it on to Spink. However, I managed to outlast him in the waiting game and so Spink eventually sold it to me.

    This was all sent to my re-trimmer in West Molesey.
    Results to follow

      • So to conclude my update, here is the latest pic of my engine which is waiting to go onto the dyno for a mapping session with Ahmed Bayjoo.

        And a little taster of seat panels.

          Me too!

          Fair bit to do after dyno session;
          Reinstall engine
          Machine 20vq drive shafts for 6 speed g/b
          Rear brake upgrade.
          Back to bodyshop for finishing and final polish

          So probably looking at early next year.

            • Thanks. Never really been away plugging away in the background. It's just been extremely slow.

                Same here. I also collected a massive amount of type 85 parts. Now I finally found the courage to start doing the real work......

                      • is it cheaper to map the engine on its own? how come you wanted to do it that way?

                        very nice progress by the way.

                        • Without reopening the debate on which method of mapping is best, I don't get a choice with my tuner. He argues this is the only way to get constant controlled loads which can be repeated at will, and just won't do it any other way. Plus trying to do all this on a road is not good for your licence.
                          Of course, fine adjustments still need to be made, but by in large it is done.

                          • Oh and it is not chaeper. A dyno plate needs to be made up for each engine which is not overly cheap all by itself.

                            • surely your tuner could get the car to a load dyno to be able to tune on different rpm/map areas. That is what i will be having done in a couple of weeks. I agree, load dyno is the best for mapping, but it can be done with the engine in the car as well as far as i know!
