Finally the trans is finished. What a pain, countless of hours. Almost everything had to be done the hard way. Even that the reverse gear was machined down to half it still hitted the first gear when the trans was assembled. So had to mod the "fork" so it keeps the reverse gear away from the first gear.

Had good experience with the torsen washer mod in my B4 so same mod was needed to be done to this torsen as well.

The chevy 26 spline input shaft is little beefier than audi.

That orange and matte black paint combination looks cool What kind of paint did you use?

Normal "kilikoli"... ratle can paint. I don't except it to last shiny for long under the car.

What does the washer mod on the Torsen do?

More torque to the rear

and to the front, it increases the torque bias ratio so a greater percentage of the torque can be distributed front or rear.

Seems to work very well, makes the car understeering less and gives the rear to the side a lot easier. This is very well noticed on slippery conditions, on snow and ice. But it seems to have effect on track with semislicks too. My friend uses the same mod and he was very pleased after a day on track.


Also decided to go with a little beefier clutch. I have an AP-racing 2-disc, but it is specsed for under 900Nm so it may be on the limit, at least after stage 2. So I got a 3-disc Tilton ~1390Nm. The discs was in new spec, but I couldn't refuse a kit of new discs for the price of one. Good to have spares in stock.

Stroker timing belt setup with AAN belt and tensioner, and Subaru pulley. Little different from what was planned in the beginning. The orginal waterpump delete flange is changed to a bigger flange...

Alex, this will not be any fancy billet aluminium blin bling. Only basic and simpple, not the lightest on the market, but if a kit will be available, it sure will be the cheapest.
