    • I had the same with mine Greg...until I decided to take the lid off and not rely on looking from the outside into a mucky bottle...
indeed it was very low but after topping it up it was fine...

      • Not a huge update but now has a new MOT for this year and I have got to the bottom of the red warning light. Turned out that there must have been a bit of an airlock in the hydraulic circuit, i drained some fluid from the reservoir which showed above full. ran the engine and checked again and it was at minimum so just topped it back up and has been fine since.

Also tried to fit the steering wheel I bought from Andy, but the steering boss I had purchased wasnt very good as the horn contact didnt make contact and wasnt happy with the amount of thread to bolt it onto the column so going to take another approach and re tap new holes to fit to the original boss base. also ordered a pair of front wings in preparation for bodywork updates. the front wings are getting a little rust on the arches and tabs for the bumper have seen better days so got the wings to replace when the new bumper goes on. not sure i can afford a full respray just yet though.

going to get on with underseal again when i get a spare weekend but diy and baby are taking priority.

Also where is best to get a new throttle body silicone hose now? my samco one is wearing a bit on the isv connection

You can get a throttle body hose off Roose, about £30 IIRC

I bought it off Rusty. Momo Tuner Steering Wheel
Ive goto have another go at fitting it though as the steering boss I bought on the web is a bit crap. The horn contact doesnt meet and there wasnt enough thread for my liking to bolt it back on so I plan to adapt to fit the factory base.

Also having done some further investigation on the warning illumination coming on at start up it is the brake bomb which will require replacing as the check valve is on its way out. Other than that given the car a good wash and hoover today after all the saltiness of the roads this week

                    • Its been quite a while since I posted details about my on going S2 project, like most are these days.

Ive had a dehumidifier running in her for a few weeks as the foot well was damp, I suspect sunroof drain or around the fusebox so will be taking a look at that over the next couple of weekends. Also finally got around to purchasing discs for fitting the larger rear discs from Andy C and also have a second hand brake bomb to fit to see if it resolves my weird PAS fluid level changes.

When the car first starts up the level drops by about half then when you move the car you get flashing red light for about 2 or 3 seconds and it doesn't do it again after that, and after about a minute the reservoir level returns to normal. Any ideas?

Im going to change the bomb as you can hear the 1 way valve ticking and feel the brake pedal pulsing too. Also working on getting her on the road this year, but 3 stag do's are draining funds rapidly so may or may not be on the road this year.

                          • S2 Coupe 10 years on

Buy a servo from a cabriolet approx £35 to £55

Remove hydraulic servo, remove brake bomb,
Remove the piston from the front of the steering pump under the plug with the "+" on it.
Blank the port that goes to the bomb.
Blank the two ports on the steering hose from reservoir to rack.
Feed the vacuum from the PCV pipe by T'ing into the pipe where charcoal valve is fitted.

                            • Doesnt sound too bad when you say it like that. Will try the bomb I have as ive got it now and if im still scratching my head after that the vacuum option might be the way to go

                              • Finally a minor update, I had a good result with Adrian Flux on insurance. I tried sky and A-Plan but couldnt come close. Adrian flux did a classic policy and agreed value for £210 which I thought was excellent.

Also got the mazda 6 mps rear discs to fit for the caliper carriers supplied by Andy so will try and get that done over the weekend and see about getting an MOT and tax after that. Providing I can get that past the long haired colonel approves she has been very understanding with having 3 stag do's this year too.
