      thanx!

So it is an MB only pipe, i will block it...

found a dodgy wire on the idle switch:

after searching on the internet for engine pics, i found the idle setting screw

it has been blocked with silicone... , probably the ring seal is leaking...

this is the sensor i need.

Pretty sure that this is under vacuum and for that reason it should have the 'bung' replaced.Air is being drawn under the flap/paddle side via this hole.

Ur quattro, K-Jetronic idle mixture adjuster..
The amount of air drawn in on this setup is very small, the hole is in fact not a hole at all but a tube containing a spring loaded 3mm allen key extension. You fit your adjusting key into it and push down against the spring until it engages with the flap adjuster, tweek it and then let it spring back up to check the result. Covering the hole with your finger should make no difference to the idle speed. It has to be said though that sometimes people remove the mechanism so that you adjust with a long allen key straight onto the flap, in this case the hols does have to be blocked for the car to idle correctly. My car has a Treser metering head which is a larger, downdraft unit with the air filter above and has a threaded bung covering the adjuster hole.
The standard unit just needs the bung to keep the dirt out.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbQ9dWThNeU

now we just need to sort the idle, fix the oil leaks, and the quattro is in da business again

My recollection is that the 'screw' underneath the silicone on the throttle body is a brass screw with a small black rubber ring seal, and a pointy tip, that needs to be cleaned of black gunk periodically.

I think it is common to Mk 1 and early Mk 2 K-Jet Golfs, and other VAG cars of that vintage.

Someone on here should be able to dig up a photo.

You're making good progress, as usual.

              Kind regards.

i need some brake info fast!

i have a chance to buy a set of 2 piston Girling 60 calipers.

do they fit on a urquattro which had stock single piston calipers? Just need longer brake lines?

Yes they will fit (did this a few years ago)

Don't forget you will need the matching floating caliper carriers and of course the bigger discs.

I also had to trim down the tin brake backing plate by just a tiny bit. Probably best to go for some braided lines whilst you're at it too.....

yep, they fit, just need longer brake lines.

do the rear S2 coupe brakes fit the urquattro?
