After some sanding down got the calipers together, but with all the fuffing about chipped it in places, luckily at the back so just need to cover up so it doesn't rust. Not impressed.
Other things that were coated (didnt f up these).
At least she's starting to take shape

I am slowly getting parts for timing belt job and was wondering, for the lower crank pulley (the one that usually fails) there are 4 M8x30 allen head bolts, are those "special" type screws or any M8x30 bolt will do? Personally would prefer hex head bolt over allen one.'93 Audi 100 Avant - R.I.P

They use a burn off oven to strip off the old coatings. This gets rather hot and retempers the alloy. Result is hard wheels. They crack very quickly. Been there with a set of mx5 wheels. Dare not think of the what ifs as all but one spoke cracked all the way through.
my experience is not the only one. Try a q7 on new wheels with a colour change by them. Shagged those too.
