Not good news guys. It's ate something like a big end bearing in the bottom end. Bad knock. Oil pressure had been great with 2 bar idle when hot and 4 bar ish when up the revs. Then after the problem the pressure fell to 1.3 bar idle and 3 bar at higher rpm. My oil temperature gauge isn't working for some reason and the oil cooler is cool and the sump boiling. I think maybe the thermostat for the oil has let the oil boil and then do a bearing. Will soon find out I suppose...
Sorry to hear mate But you said your tappets ware ticking? Are you sure it does not suck air? I had the same problem. It sucked air on hard launch and the tappets started to tick. I made a good baffle and now its gone.
damm,bad luck des
i also had some oil pressure problems in the past with my rebuild engine, results, crank damage,
my problem was that the oilpump was sucking air on hard launches so i made the sump bigger and some baffles in it
I hope you do not have too much damage!

No I'm using 12.9 cap heads and they are the same length as stock. I hope to find a cause as I don't want to do this engine build a third time. I wasn't pulling massive g force so I just don't know.
As I was measuring good pressure at the stock pressure point are there any other galleries that could be restricted and give poor oil flow to parts of the engine like head and crank?
Just how hot does oil need to get to cause this problem despite having good pressure?
I new I should of took more notice to the noisy tappets. They were the early warning.
