    Hi Ian

    Sorry for the delay.

Any idea how hot the oil is getting?

    Cheers

The Amsoil is good, it's a PAO synthetic, but those ones are ester based, so a step above the Amsoil.

          Hi Tim,
What do you think of the oil test linked to here:? http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59770

Would you consider the test methods and results to be valid?

Ah, the good old Falex test machine This one has been doing the rounds for a couple of years now, most of those oils no longer exist in that form (all been updated or discontinued). Personally I would take it with a big pinch of salt, the oils they are comparing are apples and pears to one another and in most of these American tests the winner is always American... The Falex test machine itself is very popular at trade shows etc and gives a wow factor when people see the difference in scarring especially when oil additives are added. But, in reality it has no relation to what goes on in an engine, there is no temp control, combustion by products, shearing effect, length of time to name a few. One test that is used by reputbale oil manufacturers/blenders is the 4 ball wear test http://www.polarislabs.com/test-expl...-ball-wear.php

            Hope this helps.

            Cheers

              Hi Oilman,

I've recently rebuilt my engine, and will have a 400+ hp setup, with 1.85 BAR pressure at full boost.
I plan of driving the car a little on the agresive side, with some flat outs and ocasionally some drag races.
              What oil will you recommend?
After the engine rebuild we used 10w40 BMW oil for the first start of the engine and some km, then we switched to 5w40 Castrol Magnatec and then we are planning at 1000 km to switch to Castrol edge professional TWS 10w60.
What would you suggest? I will be interested in buying some oil from you.
              --------------------
Also I have another stock Audi S2 3B and planning on doing just a stage 1 remap, so I guess the turbo will run at 1.4-1.5 BAR pressure, and 270hp.
This car will be drive seldom agresive. What would you suggest for this car?
I'm using Castrol Edge Professional TWS 10W60 at this moment.

I would think SAE60 is too thick, do you have any idea on oil temps when used hard?

                Cheers

                      Hi

Sorry for the delay, had a week off.

In the S2, I'd go for a 15w-50 or 10w-50, depending on what you have available to you.

With the others, the safe option is a VW 504.00 oil, but depending on the service schedule you are using, a 5w-40 may be a good option if you like to put your foot down.

                      Cheers
