  • Hurray!
Found it under the carpet on the passengers side.

But what’s this black plug for?

And how do I get this off?

    • Black plug might be for AC switches?

I got one of those aerial things off the window with a Stanley blade and brake cleaner.

The aircon seems to be all connected.
I will give the Stanley blade a go.

How many pins in the black plug and what size?

          • Yes, the air con won't work as I have no compressor or pipework under the bonnet. I did however connect everything up behind the dash ready in case I find the aircon bits and decide to re fit at a future date.
It was 6 pin (I think). Will check tomorrow and get another pic. The car had some fancy stereo stuff in the past so it might be related to CD changer or Amp? Not sure

            • You could use lock wire to remove it like they cut cheese and the black plug I know where it goes just can't remember what plugged in to it. It sits on the metal frame that holds the dash in place behind the ashtray ( coil tray ) there is a metal finger that it pushes on to. Regards Lynn

(was a metal finger) Let me know if you remember.
The wire sounds like a good trick. I'm going to warm it up a bit first with the heat gun set low as that will hopefully soften the adhesive.

                • You see the black plastic plug has a round side and also the white one they should have a 6mm thread to sit on maybe like the one in your photo. They don't go to the cigarette lighter and handbrake light wires ?

No, they are connected up and working. I see the mount holes now you have pointed them out. Do they fit on the two threaded screws coming out of that mounting plate? We seem to be getting warm!

                    • Plug is to power rear active speakers. And also it has remote signal, to turn on aerial amplifier and rear speakers amp.

                      T6k on the diagram.

Yes mine were on a little threaded finger although mines a coupé and where facing back towards the heater matrix yours look like they face upwards for some reason I don't know.

                        • Don't know why the wire plugs are getting warm although I didn't check mine to see if they were just reconnected them. Maybe the thread is a heat sink or maybe I'm talking rubbish .

                              • It is for active rear door speakers. One small and one bigger speaker. Amp is inside the door.
