I have a Greddy EBC, I just figured that if it's not making boost mechanically, getting electronics involved isn't going to help?

It really looks like boost creep
So you've tried 2 wastegates, it would be strange if they were both wrong but I guess you've checked they're not the small port type like I found on my 3B? Or is there a chance the WG plumbing is partially blocked? What DP are you using?

I would give the EBC a try, it can't hurt. I ran the 4 pot off the spring for a while and it was awful, made the world of difference once I got the N75 hooked up to the 034 ECU.
Without reading back, sorry mate, there is a lot and apologies if its already been covered. What happens if you disconnect the vac line to the wastegate? Don't go crazy though if you haven't tried it, keep your eyes pinned to the boost gauge and be ready to lift quick lol. It looks like your wastegate is cracking open before it should creating the slow spool, im sure mine did a bit of that off the spring. Can you control both sides of the wastegate with your EBC?
I also had issues initially with the tial BOV having the wrong spring in it, once I got the right one in there again made a big difference to the driveability.
Is it currently set up with just the line from the turbo comp. housing to the wastegate, nothing else in between?
Now for a really silly one but I've seen it before! Is there a chance there might be any rags stuffed in your pipework / exhaust anywhere? I know, I know, Please don't take offence, but I have seen that before on a scooby
Just throwing it out there just in case. I know how frustrating it can be when it's just not quite right, I think both our projects have followed the same destiny!2000 B5 A4 Quattro Sport ~ 2.0 20V GT30R ~ Gone

Well I figured as I had it sitting on the shelf I may as well fit the electronic boost controller and see what happens. Just as a small side story, this is actually the EBC that was fitted to Jamo's car before he owned it, I bought it off Graham many moons ago and never got round to using it, so this weekend I put the stock wastegate spring back in, and in it went

After reading the manual about a million time to make sure I knew what all the various setting did, I set about setting it up. To start with I backed everything back to zero and then started adding boost to get it back to the 1.5bar it's mapped to. Then I started working on getting the boost to come in nice and early.
The difference was staggering, even with minimal tweaking the boost was coming in at 3000rpm and peaking at 4000, an improvement of 1000rpm. The difference in drivability was massive, and there is loads of adjustment left to get it coming in even earlier. Finally I get a glimpse of what the car is capable of
Unfortunatley the EBC now seems to have broken
It boosts up to 1bar then quickly drops back to spring pressure, almost like it thinks it's over boosting and killing the boost. I've tried re-fitting the big spring and it will boost to 1.5bar so I'm convinved the problem is with the controller. I'll do more investigation this weekend.
Also received a nice package from Bruce_m today

I'll report back later when this is fittedsigpic

Good work, always feels good when you take a step in the right direction. I bet you've blown the frequncy valve already! These garretts seem to have a way of being hard on parts, I'm convinced its due to the vicious spool.
So water meth & 2.2bar next then lol2000 B5 A4 Quattro Sport ~ 2.0 20V GT30R ~ Gone

Are the solenoids known for failing? I've tried putting 12v across it and it still clicks, I'm trying to find some more detailed specs for it so I can check it a bit more scientifically

In my experience they fail quite easily, especially with a fair amount of boost up them. But I'm convinced its the way garretts spool up so fast, I've killed a few N75 valves already. I'am running standalone though and not sure if the output stresses the solenoid more than the motronic would!?! Saying that you have a dedicated controller with a matched valve so not 100% there mate, I would still check for hairlines in the hose connections though. I've also come into issues with those silicon hoses your using, eventually swapped them out for nylon braided rubber hoses like OEM, they seem a bit more robust.2000 B5 A4 Quattro Sport ~ 2.0 20V GT30R ~ Gone

Gain is only set to 20%, I was hoping to crank this up a load more to get it boosting even earlier
I've also tried it on low boost and it's doing a similar thing and that's only set to 1bar.

Not tested it yet, but I did re-fit the big spring and it boosted to 1.5bar like it used to. Yes, the controller is T'd in by the ECU.sigpic

I've oredered a new solenoid but it's got to come from Germany so it maybe a week or so before I know what the problem was. If the weather holds off this weekend I'll be fixing the fuel leak and fitting the water injection kit
