The mustery deepens, and so does the sinking feeling in my stomach
First off a massive thanks to quattro Dan for getting the car back into the garage, an 8ft scaffolding pole and a T30 transporter van did the trick nicely
Initail findings:-
- The engine will not turn over
- It's not the cam pulley, that was still locked in place and the keyway in tact.
- Everything under the cam cover looks OK
- The cams and valve train will turn easily and are now set back to TDC on No.1
- Looking down the inlet tracts there is no obvious signs that the valves are bent.
- With the cambelt off I can turn the bottom end backwards and forwards by about 10° before it reaches a very solid, metallic stop
- Number 3 spark plug is stuck solid. Others came out normally and look OK.
- Looking down no.1 & 2 spark plug holes I can see what looks like metallic debris
That was enough to ruin my evening so I'll pull the head tomorrow to reveal the full horrors beneath.sigpic

I can't see this being fixed for ADI

Still not sure what has caused this yet. If the timing had slipped would you expect to see marks on more that one piston? becaue the other pistons and valves appear untouched.
I'm going to pull the bottom end out tomorrow night and see if there is anything in there that could of caused it
