It was on way to MOT when the bonnet just came up. THat's the result!

When you get the new one on either fit bonnet pins or 2 gas struts.

Even if the pins don't hold, the safety catch should stop it coming up, whoever painted the bonnet didn't lock the pins or refit the safety catch IMO

one step forward four steps back, sorry to hear that mate. I have another bonnet if you get stuck thats in good condition. Sounds like something wasn't right on it, i've had a coupe gt bonnet partially open due to the spring catch being weak (ended up putting bonnet pins on it) It should have still held on the other spring catch and the bonnet release catch as mine did at past the speed limit

Think I have managed to source some hinges. Repairs will cost £1000 and a new windscreen £175 fitted. They are apparently still available. Worse case scenarion, they can be specially made for around £200, which in the grand scheme of things these days is not bad.
Work will start next week so maybe finally be ready early in the New Year.
But I will not be holding my breath

I've heard of someone getting a new windscreen for a type 85 for around £130 which seems to be the going rate, either that or get your insurance to sort?

THe safety catch has been moved slightly to one side to allow fittment of the front radiator. It appears the bonnet ripped off from the n/s safety pin and then flew open. Locking pins, as much as I don't really want them, will definitely be going on to prevent another occurrence.

Green tinted glass with slightly darker Green top tint is a little bit harder to get hold of I think. Unfortunately, due to car being in bits it has not been insured for past four years.
