    AAN cam cover;

I am currently planning to drill or slot the pipe to use as a breather, possibly use the original rear vent to tie into the block.

Also got these, some heavy reading!

Also thinking about gearboxes, I think long term I will go B7 gearbox like Alex, however in the meantime I am thinking about sticking in a 7A box when I change the clutch.

    7A

Gear Ratio 4000RPM speed/7000RPM speed (MPH)
    1st 3.545 20/35
    2nd 2.105 35/60
    3rd 1.429 50/88
    4th 1.029 70/122
    5th 0.838 83/145

    3B

Gear Ratio 4000RPM speed/7000RPM speed (MPH)
    1st 3.500 20/35
    2nd 1.842 39/68
    3rd 1.222 58/103
    4th 0.903 80/140
    5th 0.714 98/172

7A would be closer/shorter gear ratios. More like an ABY, but with better shifting ABY felt a bit more urgent in gear compared to the 3B. The long third in a 3B can be great, as it can take you from 30-120, but with a bigger turbo I think the car will become a bit less flexible, and driven hard

Anybody got a good 7A box tucked away?

Billet turbo could be kept on the boil nicely 4000-7000 to allow for not perfect shifting.

I would say you need a multi-plate setup to hold that reliably.

    I don't know about 750

Start a thread and post the torque as well, some of the big power guys might chip in.

I asked about the ratings for the Helix

This organic fast road clutch will take approx. 340 lbs feet of torque, maybe a bit more.

The paddle will take approx. 400 lbs feet of torque.

The paddle can be used on the road if necessary but will be quite hard, you cannot slip it in traffic and may get clutch judder upon take up, although it is ideal for race and rally.

Yeah loosing compressed air was like going back to having landlines only as opposed to modern smart phones.

The compressor is a Sip Airmate TN3/50-D, just a nice size for in a small workshop.

Here's the Bergen gun I went for, just a 660NM model can't see that failing to undo stuff. Just checked and found the Bergen 650 for a bit more cash, looks like a better tool, I maybe sending the first one back and going for one of them. Wish I'd spotted that while browsing last night. Hope your happy with yours John

And here's the sockets, their only cheap but I misused and battered the hell out of a set over two years at work and failed to break any of them.

Also treated myself to one of the these as I hate crappy tyre inflater's.

Im not too sure, the low ratios are annoying at times but the in gear acceleration is awesome. I haven't asked him, might drop him a PM. The WR flywheel i run has a recess where the disc fits so it will keep the heat in more which is not ideal for abusing. I might be able to get it turned down i guess which would lighten it a **** load as well but not sure how the pressure plate would fit after that. I have a 7A flywheel sitting that i could use but dont know if i can just get a 3B pressure plate and run a UR disc or if they wouldn't match up.

Cool, I have dropped them an email, will see what they suggest regarding paddle etc

£436.73 for the one you linked

Loving those old M&W measuring tools mate, I've got some of that kit and it's lovely, my Myford is imperial and most of the stuff I do is metric now but I can convert in my head, I don't even really think about it, .5mm - 20 thou etc, job done I bought a 24 inch vernier a while ago though which is weird as it's in 20ths (I think, it's really hard to measure with and I use a vernier every day, prefer it to a digital gauge.

Just ordered one of those Bergen 650s on your recommendation Kit Been meaning to get one for a while, the chap who helped me rebuild the front end of the RS4 had one, he worked at Audi in the past, I was impressed by the way it breezed through disassembly of the brakes and suspension..

If you could point me at a decent set of impact sockets that would be cool, I have a Bahco 6 point 1/2" set but like to keep them for best

Great news on the FPR too!

The digital micrometer is a joy to use, much, much easier and quicker to get a reading, certainly for someone like me who hardly ever needs to use one. Pity the jaw is only 40 mm but beggars can't be choosers.

I'll have to check the make of compressor but it's got a 50L tank a very large motor and a V twin engine, only used it for leak testing so far as waiting for tools to arrive.

Went for a Bergen 660NM gun and a fairly cheapo set of impact sockets that we use to have at work and found to be very tough. I would post links but my connection at the minute is very poor and won't run eBay. I should have both tomorrow though, yeah it really speeds things up when doing hub's and subframes etc, I've missed having it a lot. Also really handy for cleaning stuff

I was planning on picking up a helix when i swap to the MD357, they seem to be pretty well priced and take plenty of abuse. I would probably go for the paddle disc though. http://www.performanceclutch.co.uk/p...992/232436.htm
Do you know who has run them?

I was going Sachs as nobody seems to have issues, and I want it to be a one time job. There always seems to be somebody who has had issues with spec, a few with southbend, clutchnet etc.
