That's really bad about the clutch, can see why you were pissed off, it's not like the thing costs small change!

The digital micrometer is a joy to use, much, much easier and quicker to get a reading, certainly for someone like me who hardly ever needs to use one. Pity the jaw is only 40 mm but beggars can't be choosers.

I'll have to check the make of compressor but it's got a 50L tank a very large motor and a V twin engine, only used it for leak testing so far as waiting for tools to arrive.

Went for a Bergen 660NM gun and a fairly cheapo set of impact sockets that we use to have at work and found to be very tough. I would post links but my connection at the minute is very poor and won't run eBay. I should have both tomorrow though, yeah it really speeds things up when doing hub's and subframes etc, I've missed having it a lot. Also really handy for cleaning stuff

That really sucks about the clutch. I hate getting messed about when buying things, especially when told they have it in stock.

I was planning on picking up a helix when i swap to the MD357, they seem to be pretty well priced and take plenty of abuse. I would probably go for the paddle disc though. http://www.performanceclutch.co.uk/p...992/232436.htm

I contacted Danny at DNA to chase up my downpipe, and get a price for a clutch. He does what looks like this kit, Southbend red Sachs 707 pressure plate, Spec RS4 stg 3 + disc, but its £847.95 + postage

Do Southbend modify the Sachs 707 plate?

Sachs SRE kit from Sachs is £530 + postage

I contacted them and they confirmed all parts were available before ordering, which is what really pissed me off. Got a refund last night so just need to buy again elsewhere.

Most people seem to have the stock sachs one no issues, I dont see a problem, just would take an SRE one for a little more if avaliable.

Nice, whats it like to use a digital one? Really quick?

I have a 1"? calibration thing, maybe others floating around, and there is a box of slip gauges near me for £20 I might grab. They are unlikely to get much use, but nice to have.

Nice, what air gun did you go for? What compressor?

I love having an impact, makes so many jobs so easy/fast. I just got impact hex bits, thats the only annoying thing, having to buy impact versions of chrome tools you already have.

Nah, it was to get posted in January some time.

That's bad of them to take a payment for an item not in stock, to be fair they do say on their site that the release bearing is not a stock item and to contact first but both bit's of the clutch were listed last time I looked.

I ignored the stock warning and went ahead and ordered an SRE bearing, to be fair they got back to me within a day to say that they can no longer supply it and offered the OE Sachs item instead, which I went for given that most people have used them with the SRE clutch without issue. A got a refund within a couple of days without having to chase them, though they did offer to keep the funds in my account in exchange for a 5% discount on my next order. Given that they'll give you the 5% discount anyway I asked for a straight refund which was duly done.

Nice present from your girl friend!

I was given a new digital micrometer made by the same company as your set by my uncle a few months back, the one's you have look to be really nice quality older stuff, more robust than mine. It may be worth getting their calibration checked out if your not sure what sort of life they've had.

I got a decent compressor from my folks and have just splashed out a couple of £100 of air tool and impact sockets etc.

Got your new turbo from Albert yet mate? I've decided I'm sticking with my current set up, it's already fast enough to scare the crap out of me and place me in positions of danger.

No progress, still waiting on the clutch. Ordered from http://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/ E&S Pkwteile GmbH after confirming everything was in stock, got an email 3 days later saying the pressure plate was out of stock, would it be ok if they sent a standard one They said they will try to source a SRE one, still waiting, paypal dispute will open tomorrow if not.

Got the pin tool John linked

Also some new seat glide bush things

Not S2 parts, but still related, and older engineer that comes into work gave me these as he no longer uses them

And another retired gent gave me this from his lab days!

Got a new spraygun from christmas from my girlfriend, just what Error404 and AndyP recommended, how did she know?

The connector is numbered, at least at the ends, so you just count along, the wire colours in the pinout table help.

I bought one of These but it arrived after I'd finished, I have another one which is a bit of a fiddle

The 2 x 3 pin connectors are easy, they are the +12v supplies for the coils so all the pins are the same. (I did all three on both so they're interchangeable )

The 4 pin connector with all 4 pins populated as follows:
    Pin 1 - Cylinder 3 coil trigger
    Pin 2 - ECU Earth
    Pin 3 - Cylinder 2 coil trigger
    Pin 4 - Cylinder 1 coil trigger

The 4 pin connector with only 3 pins populated as follow:
    Pin 2 - ECU Earth
    Pin 3 - Cylinder 5 coil trigger
    Pin 4 - Cylinder 4 coil trigger
    Brilliant, thanks John

Do you have any recommendations on pin extractors? (I have just used ground down things in the past)

How are the ecu pins numbered? EG left to right as you face the plug?

Alex is doing this for me

Use a 2 and 3 pin connector to connect to a small sub-harness that runs back to the ECU with your 5 coil trigger outputs you need to add to the ECU connector. That way you can unplug and remove the actual coil harness if necessary which will make life easier in future, plus it will make the install easier.
Run it through the bulkhead using one of the blank grommets under where the battery tray used to be, I can install the actual grommet on the sub-harness before terminating it with the right ECU terminals.
Then you just bosch it through the bulkhead and plug straight into the ECU connector when you do the pin swap. Simples

Safer ignition mainly, which I would want with one of Alberts turbos plus Dmitri will still map it when he's over here. If I stick with RS2 spec the dissy stays for the foreseeable future, I'm not going to change anything until I've done a good few miles with the new clutch fitted which will be happening soon. I should have a new OE Sachs release bearing on Monday, they can't get the SRE one any longer, it was only £18 but is the correct one so should be OK.

Just for fun or for more reliable ignition? ABY has better vag com stuff as well.

Hopefully, Mark said they would be fine, said they flow more fuel than some other higher rated ones.

I'm runing my K26 on the race track ... it is responsive look at the videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClx...gynbMJGPOVvT4w

I can make a bet that it is more responsive than the RS2 turbo. This is why I did not get it my self. It has much older compressor wheel in technology aspect.

That all sounds like a good plan, I can see myself doing the same within 12 months.

Are 440's going to be enough, do you know what Albert uses?
