the oil pump is a gear type pump, thus flow is fixed (at a given speed). with the flow fixed, the pressure at the parts that need to be lubricated is also fixed (by the resistance to flow). if changing something on the relief valve results in higher pressure, then there is a restriction downstream and thus a problem somewhere.

No dyno today. The roller movment hydraulics got broke just when I drove the car on the dyno, so couldn't adjust the rollers to fit the wheelbase. New try next wednesday.

To the local technical college laboratorium. They have a calibrated 4wd dyno. Have been there twice before.

If you're in touch with Rosten, can you encourage them to hurry up with their English version of their website ?

I would have thought there're missing out on a lot of english speaking I5 customers potential business.

              Thanks.

Haven't recently read all of this thread, can you remind us why the first rebuilt engine was using such a big amount of oil ?

                Thanks.

Havn't measured the block yet. Must be that the cylinders are out of round. The low tension rings don't seat in that case.

Fun dyno day today. Everything worked out nicely. Performance turned out as quite nice numbers, if you think that it was only 1,7bar springboost and the timings was for gasoline. I'll guess there is some potentional left there... There are two plots, first with 7A cams in stock position and second with the cams 2 degrees advanced.

Boost is only controlled by springload, it creeps up to max. 1,7 bar. Fuel is E85. Dmitri did leave a "supersafe" map because the head lifted when he mapped the car. I think we where beyond 2,2 bar (propably much more because my vacuum hose to the ECU was leaking very badly, and it's the reason why we maxed out the injectors).

                            Very good Tomas!

And this with the stock engine with Aron rods?

98 fuel timing map using E85?

Where should be the limit with full 100% mapping completed?

                            700?

Yes, that's right. I have heard they have exeed 700hp with this turbo and E85 so it could be possible. Somehow the engine felt so easy at this level on the dyno, at least in the car. It didn't sound like it's struggling or anything.

Yea, first I build a engine with no compromises, it didn't work out. Then I throw in some random used parts and everything is good.
