the oil pump is a gear type pump, thus flow is fixed (at a given speed). with the flow fixed, the pressure at the parts that need to be lubricated is also fixed (by the resistance to flow). if changing something on the relief valve results in higher pressure, then there is a restriction downstream and thus a problem somewhere.

I would have thought there're missing out on a lot of english speaking I5 customers potential business.
Thanks.

Havn't measured the block yet. Must be that the cylinders are out of round. The low tension rings don't seat in that case.

Fun dyno day today. Everything worked out nicely. Performance turned out as quite nice numbers, if you think that it was only 1,7bar springboost and the timings was for gasoline. I'll guess there is some potentional left there... There are two plots, first with 7A cams in stock position and second with the cams 2 degrees advanced.

Boost is only controlled by springload, it creeps up to max. 1,7 bar. Fuel is E85. Dmitri did leave a "supersafe" map because the head lifted when he mapped the car. I think we where beyond 2,2 bar (propably much more because my vacuum hose to the ECU was leaking very badly, and it's the reason why we maxed out the injectors).Last edited by Thuppu; 22 January 2014, 17:22.

Very good Tomas!
And this with the stock engine with Aron rods?
98 fuel timing map using E85?
Where should be the limit with full 100% mapping completed?
